SKY digibox going into standby

Our SKY digibox has started going into standby if the unit has been switched on for several hours. If you are lucky enough to see it there is a warning on the TV screen but as we often have the TV off and the radio playing through extension speakers it all just goes dead.

Apparently this is a new 'feature' introduced by SKY (via a recent download) to save energy. It can be overridden via the services menu.

i think the box goes into standby if it is left untouch for 4 hours during the day, and for 2 hours after 11pm.

if you want to record a programme then you can turn the autostandby off by using the option in the services menu.

i think that the "autoview" function in the sky guide will also make the sky box turn on..but have not yet confirmed this.

I've not heard about auto standby during the day (it doesn't happen on our HD box), but I know it will go into standby if left on overnight.

sorry - should have made my self clear - as i have been asked this many times in the past 2 weeks as the auto standby feature has just arrive on basic sky boxes, whereas it has been on sky+ and skyhd+ for ages....

the daytime off is currently only on the basic sky receivers..

the nightime off is on all sky receivers..

sky+ and skyhd+ will only standby after 11pm and after 2 hours of no "remote" action.

We must have the basic digibox, it is nearly 6 years old!! We usually leave the radio on to 'baby sit' our dog - it reduces the builders nose! We thought the dog had learnt to turn off Terry Wogan!!
