Apologies for starting new thread if this has previously been covered but I know there is lots of talk re hidden costs etc etc. and how to make comparisons.
For info which some may find useful the breakdown for 1 return flight from Gatwick to Murcia in Sept with Monarch booked in July is as follows
Air Fare £50.98
Air Passenger duty £10.00
Fuel Supplement £ 16.00
Passenger service charge £12.30
Airport departure tax £ 3.10
Airport handling charge £ 1.55
Debit card fee £ 2.5
Total £ 96.43
NO bags or seats booked these would add £6.99 plus £5.00 each way
Have also booked Easy Jet for Oct/Nov as it worked out cheaper but regrettably they do not give breakdown on confirms.
Looked at Monarch flights for Jan/Feb advertised at £4.99 each but after charges works out to £52 pp return still pretty good.
I presume these adeed charges are not consistent between airlines as I m not sure how many are compulsory
It may be useful to compare other airlines breakdowns.

I noticed when I booked flights with Easyjet that if you put the curser over the airfare price it shows the amount of charges included.
It's been a couple of months since I booked but I don't remember a fuel supplement.
I prefer their new booking site as it has no hidden charges, the price shown is the what you will pay.
The extra charges (baggage etc) all appear on their website and you pay a flat fee per booking for using a debit card (£1.50?) and a percentage for using a credit card?
