I phoned Gap Solutions in CB (friendly and helpful girl) and have been quoted £125 per m3 including taxes and insurance. This is from Central Scotland. Also 2 euros per m3 per week to store.
I already have 29m3 in furniture and I think boxes could easily add up to another 20m3.
Does this quote sound OK, or should I try and negotiate?

£125 x 49m3 = £6,125

I've no idea, Troy, but is this the only company you've tried ?

Surely it's wise to get three quotes at least or how can you compare ?

I know companies charge less per m3 as the volume increases, at least ours did. We paid £70 / m3 (£82.25 inc VAT) & he only took 5m3 over for us so just over £411. That was April 2005 though & included 10 boxes, tape, insurance & anything else necessary.

The company no longer operates.

We've just paid £80 per m3 to transport items from South Wales to CDS.  This includes insurance and one month's storage in Malaga. Friends of ours used them to move to CB a couple of years ago (they also have a warehouse in Torrevieja) and were very happy with them.  They turned up on time when they said they would and even helped them unpack!  They are called Medcoast - although based in South Wales they transport from across the UK and Ireland (and will even transport a Rolls Royce should you be rich enough to afford one!!!)

That sounds very good....!

Morerosado you are right...I have contacted Britannia & Union Jack (again) and asked them to quote as well.

Seems to be the further north, the dearer the quote

Whoever you choose, check them out very carefully.

Make sure their insurance policy is in your hand first.

Mine stated that we were covered for £25k on the paperwork when we booked but a policy does not seem to be included with it.

Hi Lauryc
I just ready your story and am sorry this happened to you.

We have decided on Union JAck as they did turn out to be the most competitive out the 3 quotes.

Now I need to arrange Pet Travel.......anyone???
thanks again
Margaret

thanks morerosado, I will have a good look through.

I'm in such a rut! boxes lying about, loads still to be packed, a million things to think about and arrange and to top it all off my sleeping habits have went awol!  Still awake at midnight, then 4 am, then can't get out of bed till 10am!!  This is much harder than I thought it would be.
