Hi all

I'm in many forums, this being my fave if you hadn't realised.

I am a member (or WAS, until around 30 minutes ago )  of the forum http://www.quesadalife.com

I received an unsolicited email which was from Money Corp/Quesadalife telling me (I've deleted email or I'd copy /paste though that would only advertise them, I guess ) that Moneycorp were offering Quesada Life forum members a special deal. I had no need of this but looked in the Moneycorp website, only to find it's not a special offer, it's their usual one to all & sundry.

Someone else had started a new thread about how annoyed they were to have been sent the same email as they said Quesada Life shouldn't have given their email address to a third party & I posted in agreement saying I had also received such an email, as did another member.

Next thing I know is I recieve this from info@quesadalife.com saying "We will remove you from our mailing list that you do not get mail like this again and I will also remove you from my forum membership !!" As they have my IP address I can't watch their forum. I thought .....  I'd just register with my OH's email address but no, ACCESS DENIED.

How pathetic ! If I'm that fussed I'll just use our local library, it's free. Anyway it's not the only forum I've been thrown off for much less like daring to post a link to a hotel for another member !  Now THAT is crazeeeeeee. Oh yes, almost forgot, I got "deleted" from our old friends *** too, not to mention another one for daring to disagree with a very hormonal site owner over her use of the EHIC card. Best not tell you that forum as I believe the site owner is a member here too.

Anyway, rant over, back to getting dinner sorted out. THEIR LOSS, EH ??

If you've been IP banned, why not use a proxy server? You can find some here: http://www.buy4g.co.uk/ . It allows you to surf anonymously.

Thanks Mark, I may try that, with your welcome help.  That Quesada forum & the one with the hormonal site owner  give interesting local info on occasions. (Less now I'm banned, I have to add mind !)

That is quite naught really.  Email lists should never to be passed to a third party without the express permission of each addressee.

I thought the admin's reply on the thread didn't help either!

Good morning Justin.

I half expected you to have deleted this thread today so I thank you for allowing it to stay. to you.

After emailing whoever sent me the email
this morning I clicked on link on my thread here & am back in !! No mention of threads involved so admin must've removed them & decided I'm not so awful, after all.

Wonder if he saw THIS thread !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW Justin, check blogs as this member put this on mine  THE ONLY REASON IS TO EXPECT TO GET ATTENTION FOR HIS FIRM AS IF YOU CLICK ON HIS NAME IT IS A DIRECT LINK. (Cheeky s*d, using More's blog to advertise !!)

car hiring is certainly becoming more and more attractive these days…why own a car with all the hassle when you can rent a car and see the world!

More, you can delete any comments from your blog that you don't want.  Drill down in the admin area to the links to the individual posts.  The "Comments" number is a link which then lets you remove any unwanted ones.

Let me know if you have any problems with it (although I'm sure you won't!!!!!)

Justin

Hi Justin. Oh yes , clever this blogging innit just ? I've deleted it, thanks for explaining.

BTW : I was reading in another forum that any member starting a thread can actually lock the thread at any time then unlock it when they choose. That could be fun on here.

Hi Morerosado,

Well it took you long enough to be kicked off that site, I was kicked off within about 2 weeks of registering as I mentioned buying a house via a very good agent and I showed his name, BANG, I was shot off.

I think they know you because of your IP address, that is how you are listed, you would need to go and use another machine, but who looks at that site anyway.

Dave

I am not a member of that site but I think it is funny as I have in the past been banned from other BB that have been set up for Expat type communities. What makes me laugh is that these people get such a power trip, you know the kind of people that walked into PC world a couple of years back and now think they are elite in the online world. Best one i got kicked from before was because i refused to send an email with my name, address, telephone and copy of passport to prove who i was. This was requested by the 'General Manager' and 'Assistant General Manager' of the forum - they loved their titles so much that when the site was hit with a spammer (obviously the GM was such a guru the spammer bypassed all security) she contacted the server hosts and demanded they sort it out as she was the General Manager of board, she posted her email and the signature was a classic - it listed the 2 top bods and 2 other 'Board Deputy Managers' (most normal people call them mods) and a host of crap about....well crap.

I sent a message to several websites inviting their members to come and join us in a free fiesta, everyone allowed the message apart from Quesada who promptly denied me access, funny thing is that several people from Quesada came as they got their information from other sites. still at least I won't have to see all the porno sites that they seem to acquire

Hi,

I wonder if some of these so called forums, especially thos that serve just a small area or a village/town are there just to satisfy the nneds of the locals as a way of keeping in touch and therefore dont want anyone else on the site and thus allowing them to control what is done or said about the area in questions.

Some sites are very good, I know of a couple that cover a specific village and they Mods post good news and information all the time and you are made to feel welcome even if you dont live in that village, though some I feel are just on an ego trip. EOS does a good job and provides a valuable service and should recive a grant to keep it going as a public service.

Dave
