Hi,
My O.H. and I have not yet received our I.B.I. invoice as yet (equivalent to our council
tax ),BUT we have received a small invoice which is for the full year regarding rubbish
collection.
We have about 3 weeks before it is due to be paid, can anyone tell me do I just take
it straight to my bank and pay it over the counter like in England. (Nothing here seems
to be straightfoward does it !!!).

Hi again Gypsy. We went to our local Suma office for the first time (last September) to see how we had to go about things & they gave us an invoice with the amount on & told us to take it to a bank listed across the bottom of the invoice so we went with cash to CajaMurca & paid it there.

I've since been told we can arrange to have it paid by DD but I'm unsure if you need to arrange this at Suma office or just present the paid invoice at your bank & they'll have all the information they need on the invoice for next years payment. I'm sure I heard the latter actually.

Call into your Suma office & enquire further.

YES. What you pay depends on what relation you are to the property's owner.

Hi More,
In one of your posts you mentioned that you paid your
suma taxes for the first time last Sept. We have still not
received a bill yet for our I.B.I.(not had time to go
to Suma yet to enquire)Can we get fined if our
bill is sent after we go back to england and that
means it wont be paid till next year.We have had our place
for approx 11/2 years. The reason I ask you is because you
would have had your place for a while before you paid
last year.So did they fine you?
I AM ASKING LOTS OF QUESTIONS TODAY

Hi Gypsy. We haven't postboxes & never received a bill. Suma don't send bills out anyway as I understand, it's up to us all to go check. (Could be wrong but ignorance is no defence !! )

You should go to your Suma office with your passport & enquire. You may not be on the list yet as we weren't first year but, yes, as I said in my blog, we were fined ( 10% worked out daily till we paid it) but we knew no better but now you do so go ask.

Check out MORE'S BLOG last post "bits I forgot to say"

Once you'd paid one IBI bill you can ask your bank to settle by direct debit in future though we haven't asked Banco Halifax (yet) whether they have this facility. (I know you're with them too) They certainly don't have the facility to allow their clients to pay their 214's (weath & renta taxes) through them & sent us to pay at Cambank !!)

Sorry Irene we abbreviate Costa Blanca to CB on forum a lot & Costa Del Sol, where you are, to CDS.

The CDS is notorious for being higher priced overall to our area, the CB

Also you may have a 2 bed, 2 bath but a 2 bed, 2 bath what ? If an apartment, taxes are cheaper anyway. I have a 2 bed, 2 bath but it's a detached house on the CB. I thought  our basura was in with the IBI but I have just looked at my copy & it doesn't say "basura" anywhere on it. (Why did I think THAT ?)

Seeing as we went to Suma in Guardamar to ask to be able to pay our taxes I hope  there's no more  to pay  & be fined on !!  The more we try to do it all correctly the more hassles we have, I'm all Spained out, I tell you.  Now I must go post in my urb's forum & ask THEM & they can be quite irritated I tell you if the post boxes aren't up & running (which they're not as I see umpteen emails in from furious resident owners).
