Basic House / Apartment question
| The Comments |
Hi Folks, We are hoping to relocate to Spain by the end of the year, and have been looking at property on the web. I am confused. I live in what we simply call a house here in South Africa, free standing, half acre garden, fenced for dogs, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, couple of lounges and garage. What is the equivelant in Spain, IE Finca, Villa, etc. I believe in the UK, it would be called a bungalow. We are coming over to suss the place out sometime in September and have been leaning towards Malaga / Coin region. Most photos show rows and rows of apartment blocks. Look forward to your help. Kind regards, Ivor

Hi Ivor - yes it can be confusing! There are lots of descriptions, I have a Quad Villa which is a semi-detached house and is one of a square of four, if that makes any sense. There are fincas, cortijos, villas, chalets etc etc. I think you just have to read all the details and see what you like. As there is so much property on the market at the moment, the best advice is to rent first and take your time choosing something.
Best of luck.

Thanks Claire.
Yes, will definitely rent, but just wanted to get an idea of what we can afford etc while working out whether we can in fact move. Catch 22, but I suppose we can pick all that up when we check out the place. Regards, Ivor
