NIE FOR COMPLETION

We've just joined and wanted to say Hi.  We're from New Zealand and are moving to Spain at the end of the year ...  (leaving New Zealand soon, but travelling before we get there).

We're going to settle in Moraira/Calpe/Benissa area, and need to think about schools for the kids (we have 5).    Their ages range from 4-11 yrs, and as we plan to make this a permanent move, we've decided on State schools (we think!)   

QUESTION:   Have read all sorts of reports regarding 'resgistering' children for school and have also heard that there is only one in-take a year.   Is this correct?   
If we get there in December, does that mean the children could not start school till September 2009??  And if that's the case, do we home-school? (I don't think  home school is legal in Spain is it?)

Also, would love to hear from anyone in the same area, that already has their children in local schools (state/international/private) and your thoughts please......
