This thread is just for those of us who have already used ECONORENT car hire & for those of us who have booked but haven't used them yet, to share our experiences . There are enough car hire threads already so keep this JUST for ECONORENT please.
Member Janeb told us all about Econorent booked through http://www.hirecarsinspain.com a few weeks ago & I've emailed them a few times. Martin from hirecarsinspain has always got back to me within the hour, often immediately. He comes across as extremely pleasant & eager to please & inform.
Econorent guarantee you have a full / full fuel arrangement. You pay nothing for fuel when you collect the car & you take it back full, easy. (Use Eroski's at Playa Flamenca to buy petrol, lots cheaper than petrol stations. I think we saved 11c each litre in March). You also don't pay anything for the hire till you collect the car. They charge only 16€ PER HIRE PERIOD for the extra insurance which you can pay a lot more for elsewhere.
We've booked for 23 days June into July & 24 days in September. We found Econorent cheaper than booking with http://www.doyouspain.com/ & having Auriga Crown, who tend to be their cheapest.
Semijubilada & Harley have already used Econorent & have sung their praises. Who else have used them ? I know Janeb gives their details to her B&B guests.

I've just booked with them again for 16 days in June/July, same amount of days as before. The two bookings were similarly priced, some other companies increase their prices in the summer months.
One thing to note as they are a small company then you have to book them early. The first time I tried to use them was at Easter but found that they had no cars available.

We used Enonorent through www.hirecarsinspain.com at Murcia airport. Its all change there, as of last week rented cars are collected from the large car park on the right so not the usual chaos as you come out of the airport. Enconorent and Victoria plus a few others operate from white vans some share with each other, it took a while to find them but it was on the second row and our car was next to the van, so no having to cart luggage to find your car.
In answer to your question, no we did not pay for the petrol in the car, we were asked but we said thanks will bring it back full, a win win situation.
we have booked again for the end of the month, this time we will use the extra insurance as I emailed hirecarsinspain this morning had a reply , found out it was 16 euros and to ask when we next pick a car up.
All in all a good service and we will be using them from now on.
forgot to say they came out the cheapest when we did a search.

Hola Semijubilada
Did you try booking Econorent a while before Easter, just wondering. Martin of hirecars inSpain is watching the thread & taking an interest & it will help him to ensure no one is let down if he knows.

I used Econorent at Alicante and they are very easy to find.
When booking they give you a map to show you exactly where the van is in the car park. They are in the public car park section where all the white vans are. It's the furthest van in row 3.
When we arrived at the van there was a note saying back in 10 but we had arrived earlier than expected.
The check in was quite good although the rep originally tried to charge me 50e for a full tank but he changed it back to full/full without any problem.
When booking you pay extra for diesel but I think it was worth it as it cost me 27e to fill the tank up at the airport. My previous trip I had a small car and it cost 40e to fill it up at airport.
I booked a group C and was given a Opel Corsa.
When you return the car you post the keys and parking ticket through a slot in the side of the van, they ask you to mark the ticket with the bay number where the car is parked.
I was flying with Easyjet and I parked the car outside Terminal 2 whilst I checked it and then returned the car, Much easier than the other way around especially as the weather was really bad the day I left.
Only problem I had was the receipt showed the amount in £'s when I went to enter my pin number, I asked the rep to change it to Euros but he said he couldn't. I haven't checked my Nationwide statement to see if I have been charged in £'s or Euros. Could be a factor to take into account when checking prices between other car users.

I've checked my credit card statment and it did go through in Euros.
It will be interesting to see if others have a similar problem but as it only happens if using Nationwide or Co-op cards then it might be some time before the mystery can be solved.
I will definately use them again as I think they provide a better service than Record.
The rep showed me to the car and pointed out where the hi vis vest was (one) and the warning triangles. He showed me the car documents and also they provide an instruction guide in English on how to fill in the form to report an accident! He also paid for the parking ticket.

You pay on arrival with Econorent, at Alicante they had a machine to process your card similar to ones you use in restaurants. I was a bit confused as it also showed the amount in £'s on the screeen, I didn't want to type in my pin number until I was sure that I was paying in Euros. I made the rep cancel the transaction and do it again but the same thing occured. When I came home I saw that the amount had gone through in Euros so I got a better rate with my Nationwide card. |

At the moment I can't remember exactly when I tried to book with them at Easter. I did look at all the websites to compare prices a couple of weeks before but did my usual, I'll book it later and then time just flew by.
I think I have the paperwork somewhere for the booking I then made with Record so if I can find it I can get the date from there.

As I'm in contact with Martin of hirecarsinSpain he sent me an email this morning
Thank you for writing about us on Eye on Spain, with regards Easter it being early caused all the car hire companies problems as they usually have their new vehicles in before Easter, all the major local companies ie Aurigacrown and Goldcar (who we use) had stop sales as with July, August, September and Christmas, Easter is a very busy month and with all car hire companies trying to cut back on fleet to save costs it does create shortages. We do try and stress to customers to book their car hire straight after they have booked their flights because they have nothing to pay upfront and with our free cancellation policy they can change or even cancel their car hire booking with no extra charge.
Fair comment. (We've booked for June & September).
I realise many decide to pop over to Spain, almost on a whim, so booking a hire car must be rather hit & miss. I know friends of ours left booking a car for Christmas till almost a week before going. (They are not on the internet & rely on others to help them book flights, car hire etc). They were without a car for a week. They weren't happy but their fault entirely. (I stress they didn't try to get a car from Econorent). Cars do get booked up whoever you choose if you leave booking, for peak times, till just before you fly.

I've just had a looked at the Econorent website to check out their prices for June, on other sites they will state with A/C at the quote stage but I didn't see any details on Econorent. Can anyone who has already used them confirm ,if all the cars have A/C or I have I just missed something. OH normally books the car but he is watching football at the moment, so I thought I'd sort it for a change.
Thanks

I booked an Opel Corsa Diesal this month and it had air con. Although there's only two people at a time going I always book a 4 door med sized car, you never know what you're going to buy out there and some of the cars don't have a large boot.
False economy to hire a small car, maybe they don't have air con?

Semi, they all have air con, see the list I posted ! The smallest cars they do are Hyundai Atos/Citroen C1 or similar.

Point taken More but I was trying to reasure "Young" with my recent experience of the rental company.
But as normal what I'm thinking does not agree to what I type.
I meant to say that the car I collected from Econorent at Alicante this month had air con.
Haven't printed off the booking form for my next rental in June so unable to confirm if that states the car has air-con. I do have the rental agreement and that doesn't mention it either.
I've hired various cars over the past 5 years and the air con varies with the model. As you can never be sure what you are receiving til you get to the desk it's a bit hit and miss.
Air con in a car is very important to me just ask my husband, he always laughs with my constant moans about being hot. I'm also of an age where my bodies creating inner heat without warning so the air cons always on even in winter here in UK!
Econorent was the first company who gave me the model I booked and I thought the service was excellant and very helpful.

Morning Semi, I just had to put that straight though as it does say, on Econorent, that every car does have air con. (I know on other sites it sometimes says otherwise, but hopefully we are keeping to just Econorent on this thread).
As you know we are now booking Econorent & use it for the first time next month. The reviews I'm getting from yourself & "Harley" who has already used them & is currently using them as I type, are superb compared with what we hear about other car hire companies.
Air con is an absolute necessity, I agree. (We have it in our Peugeot here) However, thankfully, I don't get quite as hot as I did but hey, I certainly know what you mean & sympathise.

Do Econorent have there own website to book through or do you use hirecarspain website. Always looking for a good reliable rental firm and the full/ full fuel policy really appeals to me.

What's also good about Econorent is that they, very thoughtfully, send you two attachments as well as the actual voucher. One attachment shows you a map of the car park with their van marked on it & the bay no & has their emergency number on it. The other explains how to collect the car & how to drop it off & has the emergency number in large bold type across the top.
Hi Robert, book through http://www.hirecarsinspain.com

Hi
Just posting on here as well to let you know how satsified I was with hirecarsinspain . com and Econorent at Alicante Aiport they were great really helpful and more importantly allowed me to return the car full of fuel.
Saved me a alot of money on fuel and also cheapper than nearly anyone else for the rental of the car as well.
Definitely recommend using them, going out to Murcia Airport next week and booked with them again.

Robert

Just to confirm that www.hirecarsinspain.com and Econorent are the best thing since sliced bread, having used them for the 4th time at Murcia Airport.
The full/full saved us loads 109e for the weeks hire (Seat) and 27e fuel.
Must admit all email have been answered very quickly from Martin, so people go for it.
Well done hirecarsinspain.
