Hi all, we're taking our 4 month old over next month. We will want to register her with the local doctor, what will they ask for? i.e. what paperwork will be needed and also will be have to be residents.
We currently own a property and will be living there permanently from next month. Neither of us will be working for a few years so we wont be paying into the tax system yet.
Will the baby be covered by a doctor/hospital or will we need to get private heath care?
Also, where does the EHIC card come in?
thanks for your help

Dear Eva2004:
You can have the European Health Card. You need to apply for that in any Information and Care center of the Social Security System (CAISS) where the card will be issued instantaneusly , just with your personal identification ( passport) . You will have to fill the P-1 model for the baby.
If you have any problems, please let us know.
Best regards,
Maria L. de Castro

Hi Maria, thanks for your reply. I am a bit confused. Do we get an EHIC card for the baby from the UK or from SPain? My other half and I both have ours from the UK.
