HELP - TRAIN OR COACH INFORMATION NEEDED

A work colleague of mine would like to holiday in our apartment at Vera Playa. However, she is 20 years old and has held a licence for 2 years, so I don't think there are any car hire companies out there that would let her rent a car - does anyone know of one?
As an alternative, she is looking at catching a train. As she is flying into San Javier, Murcia, I imagine she would have to catch a taxi from the airport to Murcia city and then a train from there. I have tried the Renfe website but not really getting anywhere. I cannot see any stations close to Vera Playa such as Mojacar for instance.
Has anyone else looked into train or coach alternatives to getting to Vera Playa as opposed to expensive airport transfers each way? If anyone can help me, it would be very much appreciated.
