If you are living over in Spain, looking for work, but your Spanish isn’t up to scratch, it is easy enough to find jobs as an overseas representative for UK firms who target Brits living over there. There are various places you can find information on these companies, via the internet, sponsered links on forums such as this, and places of interest in tourist locations are but a few. The main problem with these sorts of jobs are they tend to subside in the off season. So in order to make sure that you are employed 12 months of the year, be careful what sort of industry you go into. The service industry is a perfect example ! If you would like any advice, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I have lived between the UK and southern Spain for nearly twenty years and have had close friends been in the type of position I just mentioned! Learn from their mistakes and make sure you do your research. You can find flexible, english speaking employment, nationwide in Spain, if you know where to look.

This all sounds very reassuring!!

Thank you very much for you're info!

What kind of work is maybe best to look for towards Gibraltar? I have thought about maybe looking into something on the border of Gibraltar.... maybe passport control or something like that? Would you say that was a plan?

Col is a qualified I.T. Technician and obviously looking for work in that area, and hopefully there will be jobs in that field there?! But we would obviously appreciate any advice you could give!!

Thanks again!!

In Gibraltar there are a lot of open positions in the gamin industry. Both for it qualified personnel and but also positions without it experience.

sorry i did mean to say gaming industry as in betting and online gambling (bingo, poker, casino). There are a lot of companies in Gibraltar looking for english speaking staff of all levels from it, project managers, to customer services etc... good luck in your job search.

Alcaidesa/Sotogrande:
It is true that people may be able to find work in the gaming industry in Gibraltar- but it is not as easy as it used to be. There are lots of multi-lingual people living within close proximity, yet they are working in bars for minimum wage!'
There is a wealth of opportunity in Gib, but it is mostly "who you know and not what you know" and the rest is "in the right place at the right time".
Gaming companies as well as recruitment agencies waste people's time far too often .... employment is not easy to find anywhere these days.... and if you find it, check out the turnover of staff !
Sad, but true .. things change so quickly sometimes...
