We have a holidya home in the Mazarron area where Iberdrola have not kept pace with the growth of the town and powercuts are inevitable. There is a new substation being built but as it is not yet on line and energy costs are rising and as we are encouraged to go green by various governments and the media we were wondering if there are any companies in the area who can instal some electricity generating solar panels. It would be nice to be able to save money on electricity and as the house is in one of the driest and sunniest parts of Spain it would make more sense to do so if it is affordable.

We've been there with the power cuts, so you have my sympathy. They are such a pain.
Installing solar panels can be quite expensive but I think there may be incentives from the government to offset the cost, but you'd probably have to ask at the town hall about this.
There are a couple of suppliers here although they are not quite in your area, but may be worth contacting:
