Hi Saznaz
We bought our mobile phone in Eroski in Cartagena in the "Phone House" franchise for €45 which included €20 credit.
We used it at Christmas & made 4 UK calls & 3 Republic of Ireland calls, with all calls lasting at least 10 minutes & the whole lot cost us €8.
It is on the Happy Movil network & we were able to add credit via the cash machines of La Caixa Bank & it was really easy to do.

We bought Movistar sim cards and put 20€ credit on each phone, last June/July.
I thought, as in the UK, the credit would last for "ever", (unless we used it up obviously!)
But, I got a text, in Spanish, in December saying "you can no longer make calls or texts from this phone as your credit has expired"
It seems that with Movistar, don't know about other providers, your credit expires after a period.
Gutted!
Our 40€ credit just got swallowed up in Movistars vast profits.
Does anyone know of a provider where there is no expiry time for credit?
Thanks,

We bought a cheap mobile from Movistar but luckily the lady in the shop explained that the credit has a 6 month time limit. We topped up the credit as we'd used it a lot and it also reminded us on the phone when that top up would expire. I agree that it's a bit naughty and like the car hire 'extras' extracting as much as possible from the public.

We use a Movistar SIM in our UK mobile when in Spain & were told, when we bought the SIM, that we'd need to top up with minimum 5€ every 6 months. It also tells us this on the phone. This can be done online through banks (I was told Cambank do it) though we just ensure we top up whilst in Spain. Some top up places, especially in Torrevieja for instance, won't top up for less than 15€ but near us outside Guardamar is a small shop where the girl will ring Movistar & your phone is automatically topped up with 5€ whilst you're there.
