I am about to sign up to buying an appartment on the new Polaris development and read on this site that all new build will have to have solar panels fitted by law from now on. Nothing has been mentioned to me about this and I wondered if any members new if these new developments are exempt of whether they all need them, and that's an awful lot of panels!!!! Your help would be appreciated. Regards Phil Turle

Hi Phil
we're buying on a golf development near Polaris World and were very surprised when all the properties going up suddenly sprouted solar water heating panels on the roof! No one had been told, and we didn't think the builder had done it out of kindness - so perhaps there is a new law! Good job too.

Solar panels............the law came into effect from 28th September.

Does anyone know how this will apply? I have bought a house one year ago which has not been started but is due for completion in 2008. Will this also have to have solar panels included? Does the law apply throughout Spain or only in the Malaga area?

Law is throughout Spain and I am fairly certain it applies to all property - not just apartments.
