We were gob smacked to find that this had been constructed between our visit last Spring and this Spring's visit, other than for a few gaps, this runs from Cabopino to La Cala (we assume that this will be sorted), it is a wonderful asset to the area. This does not detract from beach walks but allows people who previously might have taken the bus or a cab, to take a leisurly stroll to their destination. It is also used by cyclists, wheelchair users, joggers, parents with kids in pushchairs and electric unicycle riders.
It is featured on YouTube for those who are interested.

Yes fully agree a great walk and cost some 2 million euros to construct I have a picture on our website www.ournextholiday.co.uk/#!gallery/cpsk the views are spectacular and the little chirrungitos great for a pitstop, a real asset to the area after all the doom and gloom of recent years well done Mijas Council.
I am not sure about bicycles mixed with pedestrians and it wont belong before its defaced by som louts with a Spray can.
But cannot wait to use it again in July I here the El Oceano Hotel isnt to pleased as people gawp in on the residents LOL
I was amazed by how short a time it took ourselves BRILLIANT.

rod,
Hopefully it will regenerate Cabopino, which has gone downhill over the last few years, we are at Calahonda and see both Cabopino and La Cala as being easily walkable, both there and back.
I hope that you are wrong about folk defacing it, but they do this sort of thing don't they?

Yes it's absolutely brilliant. Does anyone know if/when it will extend the other way towards El Faro and Fuengirola?

We had no idea that it had been constructed, I suppose that it's a cheaper alternative to a promenade, but beats the hell out of walking at the side of the A-7. I reckon that this has kicked off something that will be used in areas where there is no promenade.

I've walked this boardwalk - fabulous! I was in Estepona a while back and noticed a new boardwalk extending back towards Marbella - not sure how much of it's complete yet. I believe the idea is to eventually connect the entire CDS from Nerja to Estepona (possibly beyond?) with a coastal footpath, which would be wonderful. I'd be happy for now to see Torremolinos connected to Málaga, as has long been promised.

As a sufferer of the dreaded rheumatoid arthritis, and just about to reach my 68th birthday, this is a godsend to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a 4 miles dog walk in the Peak Park every morning, but stick to the pathways, undulating land including sand is very difficult for me, but can you imagine how a wheelchair user feels about the boardwalk?

Kelju, the (political) plans are to connect the entire Costa del Sol from Nerja to Estepona, so the Senda Litoral as it is called in Spanish will definately be extended, but who knows when. To connect the 14 different coastal cities and towns with a walkway of a total lenght of 180 kilometers is obviously not an easy task.

Thanks for the information DavidJohnS, let's hope the political will (and funds) is there to complete the work.
