Hire car annual insurance?

Can anyone recommend an annual insurance policy that covers the hire car for damage to tyres, clutch, undercarriage etc?
we always take the Gold cover offered by the hire company but heard something about annual cover for this.
any recommendations?

Google car hire insurance excess There are lots of insurance companies dealing with this including the comparison websites like confused.com I always take out this insurance when I return to the UK and hire a car

I've Googled and found a few that are very good prices for annual cover just looking for recommendations through personal experiences.
