Is anyone other urbanisations, suffering? Last year squatters broke into a Bank re-possessed home. Since then they hard wired the electricity into the Iberdrola supply, which after a few weeks Iberdrola sorted out. Last May they broke into the house behind, stole nearly everything and even had the front to use the persons towels and sunlounges infront of them. The Police don't give a damm and have been far from helpful. They also attempted to break into the house attached to the one they previously ransacked, but failed to get in. Next their 2 dogs attcked two different people, again no help from the Police. Two weeks ago they broke into the neighbours home, breaking 2 doors and grills again taking many items, they had also broke into the Aquagest water meter cabinet and link up to the neighbours water supply, which the owners who flew out from the UK, disconnected. Reports were made to the Police and Aquagest. Again the Police did nothing and Aquagest have said they aren't stealing water from them, so it's not their problem. the squatters have reconnected themselves to the neighbours water supply as soon as they returned home. The Bank who owns this house say they have applied to the courts evict them, but even if they have and eventually they are evicted, our fear is they'll just move to another home. The help from the Police and the relevent companies have been zero. The owners affected are all paying into the Spanish system and economy but the authorities  do nothing, no wonder the love affair with Spain is over for many. Who can blame them.

When we had squatters on a piece of land of ours, we got our lawyer to go and visit the Guardia Civil in that area and I don't know what he did, but the squatters, who were a large group of gypsies, were gone in a flash. I was very surprised it was that easy but the police did act and seemed to have or use more powers than the police in the UK would in that situation.

In our community, in Formentera del Segura, there are a number of squatters. They have been here for at least 5-6 years. It appears if they have a child under 7 they cannot be evicted. Interesting about the water and the company not taking any action. The offspring of our gypsy squatters will take anything and have ingenious ways of entering a property but generally rely on people not double locking doors when nipping to the supermarket. It seems the squatter situation is never going to be resolved. Everyone just hopes that their place will not be the next one targeted in their absence.

Thanks for your replies, the women who is amongst them is pregnant, they probably know that by the time the eviction notice is issued, the sprog will be born. Why o why are these things allowed to happen. What is wrong with the law.
