Does anyone know who to complain to when ones Spanish Bank has been amazingly inefficient?  Our latest complaint is that we’ve been trying to pay off our mortgage since beginning of April and they either don’t respond or give us wrong information.   We’ve even got our Spanish lawyers involved and they too are having difficulty so it’s not an English speaking problem!  We’ve complained to the bank – they don’t answer!  How does one find out the head of the bank (not the local manager).  Is there the equivalent of a Financial/Bank Obudsman?  Can anyone help?

Complete the complaints form.

If the bank do not give satisfaction in two weeks then take the Consumer's Office copy to that office (part of the town hall) and they will pursue it.

There is also the 'defensor del cliente ' that you can ask for in the bank.

What bank is it ?

If procedures before the Bank´s ombudsmen are not fruitful, go to Bank of Spain´s claims service.

Unfortunately, there is no English, no online access to the claims service.

Is this to simple? why not go into your bank, speak to someone,  ask to see the mortgage account, then give them a cheque for the amount you wish to pay of.
