My Wife works for Barclays in the UK, so we have decided to open an account in Cartagena with them. Most of the form is in English/ Spanish except for one box. I have tried the translation sites, but they are no help. Can anyone tell me what I should put in the box marked "Modalidad" please?

Thanks

Mark

Mark, in what context is it used?  It's to do with classifications and groups so it depends in what context it is being asked.

Hi Marksfish. the literal translation of 'modalidad' is form..................................so as Justin says you need to know the context...............................as it is on a bank  application, it may mean type of account...but you need to check.

Sorry the scan hasn't come out very well. Basically the boxes from left to right are:

Surname, First names

Passport Number            Modalidad

Barclays form

I thought maybe it was Mr/ Mrs/ Miss??

Thanks

Mark

Hi Marksfish,

i think it's to say which number you have written in the box to the left.

i.e the box on the left asks for NIE or Passport number, so whichever you write in, you must then state in the "modalidad box, which this is, passport or NIE number.

In Justin's transalation of form, meaning in which "form" does this number take.....what is this number, get it???!!!!!

Good luck!

Okay, so I am assuming I would need to write "passport" in this space as it would be the passport number we would be using.

Many thanks :)

Mark

That's how I read it.

I can't see the document too well, but I think it said NIF/Passport number.

(or NIE number, some use NIF and some use NIE, but are both the same thing)

Anyone else got any thoughts for Markfish on this???

Good luck, i am sure they will chuck it back at you if it's wrong!

Kind regards,

I would agree, it's asking you to identify what "form" of identification you are using to identify yourself! I would put "UK Passport" or something similar.

We put "UK Passport" in the boxes and away theform has gone in the Barclays internal mail system (let's hope it is better than the Royal Mail!!!).

Thanks for all your help.

Mark
