Hello everybody,
Our names are Ray & Anita Harford. We live in Bradford and have recently signed for our apartment at La Recoleta.
We have just received an invitation to attend an extraordinary general meeting to discuss the budget and other matters.
Unfortunately we cannot attend, does anyone know what is the procedure for voting by proxy ? I have pasted an email I have recently sent to the management committee and would appreciate any comments you may have .
La Recoleta
R & A Harford, Bradford
We thank you for the invitation to the General extraordinary meeting on 28 July. We are sorry but we shall not be able to attend. We would be grateful if you could address the following points:
1. What proportion of this budget applies to us?
2. Does complex insurance include apartment and contents?
3. Will we be advised of p[oints raised before the budget is finalised?
4. Is there a procedure for people who cannot attend to vote on matters arising?
Thanking you in anticipation of your early reply.
Cheers, Ray & Anita

Hi Ray Anita
Firstly, can I suggest you remove your address from your post.
This is for your own benefit, security issues are eveident!!!
Secondly, welcome to EOS!
Whoops, forgot to answer your query!!!!! hence my edited post.
When you send your proxy vote to your committee, whoever you allocate to vote on your behalf, will vote the way THEY think, NOT what you would vote, so be very careful.
Our community has just introduced a method of voting by e-mailing your voting paper to the Administrator.
This way, what you actually wish to vote for, is counted.
We have 2 members on here who will be of great help to you:
Roberto - A Presidente
Karensun - A Presidente's wife
Both will give you sound advice,
Kind regards,

Hi Ray Anita,
Welcome to EOS. I'm sure you will find this site really interesting and enjoyable.
I was in a similar position to you when I was buying my apartment on Dream Hills 2 in CB. As I hadn't actually completed I didn't feel in a position to vote anyway. What happened was the meeting was held and I was sent the minutes of the meeting which told me my proportion of the community charges I would pay. Also included was a direct debit mandate to send off. I held onto this until I completed when I sent it off. The insurance only covered communal areas i.e. pool. I hope this helps.
Regards,
Julia
