Help I got a speeding ticket for 1080.00 for 2011?

As a retired man - driver of a ford fiesta, in my 70s I find it difficult to understand how I got this ticket.  How could it be so expensive.  I recvd notification to my house in Jan 2013 for a ticket speeding in Mar 2011?

As we don't get a mail delivery (the post office just destroys it all) is there any way to check whether a car has any outstanding speeding fines? We're not thinking we have any but without a mail delivery who knows..............

Many thanks for that very helpful link, fortunately no fines are showing up. I think  you can register and they will notify you if anything does show up which could be useful!

 Hi if none are showing then well done, my outstanding parking fine is showing! I never had any postal notice so at least i can get it sorted and avoid any more problems. If you goolge in spanish Buscar Multas, you will see many websites where you can do a search on car reg or NIE number so you can also check to see if you have any other issues which never seem to get posted but at some point always appear at the wrong time.

I had a series of speeding fines in 2009, all were over 1300€. You must check that the Traffico guys have your current address, otherwise the initial fine is sent to the address they have for you. It's ironic that here in Spain they can't find your address when the fine is circa 100€ but when all the late penalties are added SUDDENLY they can find you. Only in Spain........
