De-registering a Spanish scooter

Hi, Can anyone tell me how to de-register a scooter (bought here in Spain) that no longer works and is not worth fixing? I have heard that it is important to de-register it otherwise I will continue to get road tax bills and possibly there are problems if I cancel the insurance... any advice would be welcomed... thank you.

Easiest way, would be to go and see a Gestor

Thanks Johnzx .... I might have to do this, but I have heard it could be costly...
.....so I just wondered if anyone has done it themselves and could explain process or where to find details?

Josolo, if you don't ask a Gestor you will not know what they will charge. It could be a lot cheaper in the long run.
