Hi all.
I am new to this forum and looking forward to it, I have read a few posts and find them very informative , some funny others a bit hair raising to say the least.
On a personal note, I moved to Quesada march 2012, so coming up to my first year here in Spain.
We have had the house for 5 years and spent many holidays here and loved every minute of it, however living here, wow what a shock, don't get me wrong I have no regrets I love the weather, the country, the people but it's not been easy adjusting to a very different life style from the UK. Maybe because we retired, sold up and moved countries all in a few months had something to do with it.
Since being here we have made new friends, travelled a fair bit, joined a social club, hubby goes fishing and works on our community, painting etc so all in all now settling into our new life happily. Of course the down side is missing my children, grandsons and friends, what I don't miss is the hustle & bustle, cost of living and the endless rain and lack of warm summers. My only negatives about Spain is the paper work , which seems to go on and on and as my Spanish is very limited( my fault ) it takes a while to understand the do's and don'ts .
All in all I love my new life in Spain .

Hi LiJohn

If you think the paperwork is bad, when you've got a minute read my latest blog post, which I consider to be one of the most important ones I've posted, as it demonstrates the ridiculous nature of Spanish bureaucracy.  I would like to throw down the gauntlet and challenge anyone to show that they have had to put in so much time and effort and money (in petrol more than in fees) to effect what should have been a very simple transaction.  Buena suerte!
