Towns inland an hour from Malaga ideas please!

 I am looking for ideas for a nice town to stay in up to an hour inland from Malaga airport. We always stay along the coast but thought that in March as its not as though we can use the beach we would go inland.

We have visited Ronda many times but it is a little too far and having been there before we would like to try somewhere different. We would like a pretty town where we can wander out every night and find plenty of tapas bars and maybe a restaurant or two, somewhere with some (Spanish) life.

Any ideas would be great then I can start looking at owners direct etc at houses to rent!

 A very pretty, small town about 30 minutes by car from Malaga is Alora.  It is very Spanish with some Brits living mostly on the outskirts.  There are numerous bars and, if you're looking for somewhere to stay, I've seen several holiday lets there on owners direct and holiday lettings.  There are beautiful views from the town which is positioned on higher ground than its surrounds...and there's a good supermarket! 

Antequera is a much larger town, further inland (about and hour's drive) but it, too, is very Spanish and you'll find everything you need there.  It has some beautiful old buildings and, with industrial Companies on the outskirts, it is well-served with bars, shops and restaurants.
