Bringing Uk car to spain

I am bringing over a 2006 Mazda RHD to spain in June to Murcia region

I have contacted my Insurance to allow foreign use which covers me fully comp in Spain.

my policy with More Than expires in September 2012

it is MOT'd till March 2013

Can i insure with a spanish company when this policy runs out?

Also i will no doubt change to spanish plates within 6 months as per the law!!

With the ITV

is it only the headlights that have to be changed? or what else is involved?

approximate costs involved changing to Spanish plates?

We insured a UK registered car in Spain with Abbeygate. Have just renewed our Spanish registered car insurance with them and I was pleasantly surprided at the premium, much lower than a similar policy in UK.

 Hi mate, the tryes have to be the same on each axle, ie 2 michelins on front , pirelli on rear, or any tyre make combination.  Even better same all round. You will also need a rear fog light on the passenger side, if not already fitted.

It cost us between €800 900, thats with a set of cheapy (well expensive in Spain) tyres.

we bought 4 firestone tyres from PUCHE, mazarron two years ago-270euros total!

with regard to obtaining car insurance for a uk plated car- it must be changed to spanish plates if living in spain.if a car is not reregsitered within a certain time, it will be illegal- plenty get away with it round here, unfortunately!

also,when we moved here we were told our uk insurance was only valid for 3 months, not for the whole year-it's important you tell your insurance company if you are moving abroad.
