How can you be sued for something that does not exist ?

Sorry, taurus, but how can they be suing you for something that doesn't exist?  As I understand, the builders of this site have gone bust without it being completed and are trying to sell the land to pay off mortgages they took out on other properties and haven't paid off.  If I were you, I'd get an independent solicitor (obviously not the one this company put you in touch with) and sue them in a British court as they are registered in this country (Dorking, I believe).  Much as I detest the programme, maybe you write to Sir Trevor?  Or, even better, get in touch with Watchdog (at least tell them that's what you're going to do).  I'm sure this company would shun the bad publicity as they rely on the British public to take up their inspection tours etc.

Hi Taurus, forgive me, but I still cannot understand why you are being sued by Atlas for 40,000 pounds for something that does not have planning permission and was never built, therefore does not exist.

Have I missed something or is there more to this?
