Sorry if this is elsewhere on the site, but I cant seem to find anything.

I am a non-resident but own a property in El Ejido, Almeria.

I am looking to buy a brand new car from Citroen and wondered if there are any complications, and what I need to have.

I have an NIE but not a padron.

Also, do I need a solicitor, or will Citroen do the paperwork for me. I have an insurance quote ready to be activated as soon as the car is mine.

Any help would be much appreciated

You need your NIE, your passport and a copy of your deeds or rental agreement.  You don't need to be on the padron.

Oh, and you need the money, sorry bout that.

As with everything in Spain I think it varies from place to place. I bought a used car from a main Ford dealer and they insisted on me getting a certificate from the Town Hall confirming I owned a house there. I don't think this was a legal requirement but they wouldn't sell me the car without it. The Town Hall obliged, without charge. Our Spanish solicitor checked with various departments in Valencia, Castellon and Madrid and no-one really gave a definitive answer! Good luck.

We bought a new car from a main dealer in Malaga and, as bobaol says, just needed copy of our deeds, passport and NIE. The dealer dealt with all the documentation/paperwork. No solicitor required.

Why not contact Citreon in Slough and get one from the Export dept it will be cheaper than in Spain and can be delivered to your home or you can drive it down

Thank  you for your advice fpegman but I have priced them in UK and in Spain, and at the moment they have a better promotion in Spain and it actually works out cheaper to buy in Spain. And it also saves the hassle of having to re-register it in Spain.
