concerns with our basement.

Hi everyone, We are near completion date on our property in bigastro. We have a basement which we would like to use as an xtra room. Is there any one out there has had problems with their underbuild, leaks, damp etc. We are aware this could give us potential problems, as the rain over the Easter period produced damp areas on the walls which the builder wrote off as nothing major!!As if!!

Welcome to Eye on Spain.

We know many people who have converted this basements into extra rooms and have not had any problems with it.  Damp is actually a very common problem and I thinks it's due to the fact that most houses here have no damp proofing, even though it actually is needed.
