Private Message rules clarification required.

Had a pm from a member yesterday who doesn't appear to have made any posts in the forum. I replied to his pm but I seem to recall that the rules mean he wont actually be able to read it.

So, for the benefit of all can we have a recap on the use of private messages please.

Yeah sure.

Members don't need to post on the forum first before using the PM facility.

As long as they have confirmed their email address they are good to go.

We used to manually check everyone before using the PM facility but it became realistically unmanageable for us to keep doing that.

We have a new upgrade coming along whereby you will be able to select which members can PM you.  You either select "All", "Friends" or "Those with x number of posts".

It's about four weeks away, as we're currently revamping the rentals facility (needs doing) and then we'll get this PM upgrade finished.
