Hi nic21, you need to speak with satandpcguy.  If he doesn't see this post, look further down the page to the section 'tv in spain' and post itagain there.  you will get loads of help.

Hi nic 21

We have a place in Mar y Sol and via a 1.9m dish on the roof get a number of UK channels via the Astra satellites.  Unfortunately the channels you will want are spread out over about 4 satellites, but BBC1 is I think on Astra 2.  The positions are fairly easy to find on the internet, but if you want to PM me, I can give you the phone number  of a guy that helps me out with such things.

Because of the way the channels are spread out, even with a fairly large dish, you will loose some stations in the evenings (E4 & E4+1 for instance).  We  also find that we often loose channels such as ITV3 after 10.00 (9.00 UK) although BBC generally stays pretty good most of the time unless the weather is bad.

You can't get BBC3 or 4, or channel 5, although we have more recently been able to pick up BBC2 (Wales).  As one who has spent a lot of money to get good TV reception over the years, I can't say that I have had value for money, but we can always get the news and I guess that's what is important.  A decent set up will be £1,000+ (unless you share the dish with others) although I noticed when we were last out, prices have dropped substantially.

Hope this is of help and that I could be more positive about the channel list, but I am in the UK at present.
