selling spanish reg car in england

Hi Everyone,   Can anyone help Please.

Recently moved back to England for a short while with my Spanish Registered Left Hand Drive Car of which I sold to  a dealer.

In the meantime my Spanish Insurance ran out 3 days after i sold my car.

The insurance company took my premium out  having my s/o bank deatails for 2010/2011.

I contacted them BUT was told the car was still owned by me and was my reponsibility thus the insurance.

They will not refund me as they need the NEW Owners Registration Document

Can anyone help me please.

Normally you have to give them 2 months notice of cancellation / change of ins. co. Also they might be using the fact that you cannot own a spanish car without insurance. Even if it's parked up in your own garage / garden , offroad, etc; it has to be insured. I know , don't tell me, There's 10's of thousands that aren't insured , but that's the law. You should have just stopped the D / debit.
