ITV & INSCURANCE
| The Comments |
I have just seen a notice in my local garage that from the 22nd may 2010 when having your ITV you have to produce your valid insurance certificate , hope this stops the illegal u.k registered vehicles on the road and those rogue garages out there, if ITV stations issue a ITV sticker they, along with the driver will be fined for not checking insurance certificates

Don't understand the logic?
Most UK reg cars are not going near ITV stations?
But I do believe the majority have insurance and the validity of that without a valid certicate of roadworthines (ITV/MOT/NCT etc) has been debated many times already.
I have never understood why they don't simplify the re-registrtaion process to at least get the road tax paid - that would bring in quite a bit of revenue. I think it's the cost of changing the lights puts a lot of people off as well as not knowing how to go about it.

Sorry but dont understand the logic either...
An ITV certificate has no validity whatsoever on a UK reg car and if your UK MOT has expired, Gawd help you if you are involved in a crunch and the Traffico's get involved...you'll soon find out how (not) valid your insurance is!
As for 'rogue garages', I don't quite see where you are coming from...ITV certs are issued only by Government ITV Centres; garages dont come into the equation.
Unlike the UK, ITV Centres don't have an axe to grind; it matters not a jot to them whether the car passes or fails since they wont be the ones doing the repairs...
