If enough people participate then PolarAir or whoever gets the bulk contract will probably be on site as much as Calidona for aftersales servicing if or when it's required.

An excellent idea to go for bulk buying, I too would be interested in comparing the quotes, but I would like to add a word of caution, make sure the ultimate winner of such a lucrative contract will be able to provide an ongoing customer service and actually honor the guarantee that they provide.
The guarantee is worthless if the installer has gone bust or simply disappeared.
It is easy to be critical of Calidona and I agree with a lot of the comments, however I suspect they will be around for a long time and be on site to repair or replace faulty equipment, which there most certainly will be on a development with over 1,800 properties.
If the diffrerence is just a couple of hundred euros, then I will be going with the developer for air con!

Hi All,

Just joined this forum and I'm really interested in your idea about a bulk purchase of air-con, having just received a reminder from Esther today that their offer expires at the end of this month.  So, whoever is organising this, please count us in, we've got a 2 bed Tilo on phase 2.

Count us in as well.
We have a Magnolia in Phase II, but haven't received any offer from Calidona.

Hi
As someone who has decided to run with the air conditioning offer from Corvera can anyone inform me as to which system is best-we have a 2 bed Laurel on ground floor.
Which is more energy efficient?
Which makes less noise?
Which requires less servicing?
Which is less conspicuous?
In simple terms which is best?
any info. welcome

Hi All,
We are new to the forum. We are purchasing a 2 bed Tilo on phase 2. Very interesting to read others peoples thoughts and reservations and to know that we are not alone in feeling vulnerable at the moment.
We are very interested in the 'group buy' of the air conditioning unit. Cannot seem to trace the thread.
Would whoever is organising this please let us know details.

Steve & Laura

Hi chrissmith,

Assuming you are coordinating the possible aircon bulk-buy quotes, when do you expect to obtain offers from your 3 suppliers please?   Callidona's offer expires on 30th Sept so we ideally need prices etc before then.

Hi just to clarify that I am not collecting quotes from 3 suppliers.

What I have offered to do is to get a quote which can be compared to the Corvera offer and another supplier. I hadn´t realised the Corvera offer lapses on 30 Sep so I´ll speed up the quote.
I think Anitais co-ordinating.

Dear all,
Regarding Corveras air-con offer(which I was going to take) I asked another company for a quote.
For our 2 bed tilo apart ,they quoted 2180euros for a 24000 ducted inverter system by General, it seems they
do not fit the units on offer from Corvera, as spares are very hard to get. Also the General system is guarantied
                    for 3 years.

Presumably the offer has only been put to phase 1 buyers so far.  Like HQ we are on phase 2 and haven't received any air con offer - nor have we received our building licence ....

We are Phase 1 3-bed and Calidona have quoted us 3318 euros and 3524 euros (for a higher capacity unit). In addition to the discounted VAT they are waiving the 300 euro installation charge and includes a 5% discount. This odder expires by the end of this month and want a 50% deposit now and 50% on completion.

Would love to know if anayone has found a better quote and if they will install it during the construction before celings etc are fitted?

The question is,
"will Corvera/Calidona allow another company to install air-con before completion"? I think NOT!

Hello everyone,

Many thanks to you all for carrying out all the research into such matters as aircon etc.

I made my first posting a while back and explained at the time, that I am ignorant in matters of navigating myself around or using this type of forum, so please bear with me.
I joined this thread by reading Steve and Jane's input today but I can't even find my own earlier postings!  These were not involved with aircon but more to do with the various stories and rumours which abound.... and which I am sure, are untrue, apart from the good ones!!

May I ask if there is a general forum where one can throw anything in or has this thread developed from that please and become a specialised aircon site until someone changes the topic?

Because of financial matters beyond our control which are causing us extreme problems at the moment, I had written to see if we could be released (not out of choice but out of necessity) but I am advised by the developer that this, no matter what, is not an option.

So we have to bite the bullet and find our way forward and I must admit that I had swept the aircon matter under the carpet for now but having briefly skimmed through all the inputs, I am slightly confused as Esther did contact us some time ago with an aircon offer but I see that there are various opinions on the options available.

For me, the cost of this is yet another burden but we have lived and worked all over the world and can confirm that you decide against aircon at your peril!

Also, a reverse cycle (cooling/heating) centralised unit is best by far.  We live in Queensland, Australia and life would be unbearable without it and the heating DOES come in very handy for the one or two colder months of the year.

So, which option do we go for, please?  Has there been a consensus arrived at as I see that there were varying opinions as to whether or not the central units had to be installed above the ceiling before the ceiling is installed, whereas other folks seem to think that the system can be fitted after we have taken over the properties?

Others seem to be of the opinion that the developer would not permit us to fit a "non-Calidona offer" system until after Completion?

We have central aircon here and it's lovely but we have also lived in places where we have only had one or two separate units fitted high up on the wall in say, a Master Bedroom and the main living area.  You have to be very lucky to get the latter option to provide adequate aircon coverage, particularly when it IS hot and you have a mix of guests to contend with...... an enforced lack of privacy is one such consideration!

Financially, I'd rather wait as long as possible but if it means having the ceiling torn down to fit a central unit, it would be a very false economy.

We have two Laurel apartments: A two bed penthouse and a three bed apartment.

Also, I read somewhere of a 3,000 Euro "gift voucher" from Calidona/Corvera but I do not seem to have been offered this.  Can anyone please clarify for us?

As I say, I apologise for my late joining but I've been bogged down by other considerations and if anyone can offer me a note of how to navigate around the forum please, I'd really appreciate it, along with your inputs and feedback please, on the aircon issue.

Has a preferred option and which is maybe linked to a joint/bulk purchase been arrived at?

With our grateful thanks and kind regards,

John and Anne.
