been reading this for a while now and have visited sierra golf and i must say what a fantastic place it will be, that is if all the dog lovers and owners keep the dogs mess under control.

if it ends up like camposol in some areas you cant walk 12 inches without stepping in something nasty.

i wonder if you responsable owners will get together and install dog dirt bins.

lets keep it nice as there are enough flies already

Hi everyone,

I can't speak about Campasol but over the Christmas period we were at S.G. for two weeks. Every night we walked the area for an hour to keep warm. No electricty or water (another Masa C*** up) We saw no sign of any dog dirt anywhere and were impressed by how clean everything was. The only mess we saw was work that had been done by Masa staff and they had just left the rubbish on the pavement.

While I am on I would like to thank everyone who helped us with water, kettle boiling, showers and the loan of battery operated tools. Without our lovely neighbours I think we would have got the next flight home. Special thanks to Jan, Tony, Elaine and Steve they were our saviours.

Davina

I AM AT SIERRA GOLF EVERY DAY, AND I TOO HAVE NOT SEEN  ANY DOGS MESS ..THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT IT IS THE WORKMEN THAT ARE DOING IT (JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE BACK OF ANY PROPERTY)...

AND I HAVE TWO DOGS.. BUT IF THEY DID DO SOMETHING (NASTY) THEN I WOULD PICK IT UP...

ROB

Sorry Davina and Rob but Wannabe is quite correct about the doggy poo !! We are living here as permanent residents and on one occasion there was a mess right outside our front gate on the footpath. We have also seen the same mess in other places on SG . But it only appears to be from the same small dog ( We still are not sure who the owner is ) - all of the other dog lovers appear to be keeping their pets under control .

This is why I made the suggestion in reply to a post from the Swinging Gnome , that a possible good name for a pub here would be   " The Crapping Dog "

Regards,

Roger and Fran

Look I dont know what kind of people are living on Sierra Golf at the moment but they seem to be the kind that bury their head in the sand because recently I noticed that where the trees have been planted there is a fair amount of crap in each square.

People keep it clean

Hi,

When we were out earlier this eyar both times one thing I noticed was in general in Spain that dog pooh is a problem on the streets, just as it used to be more evident in the Uk which has cleaned up mostly.

While going aroound on Sierra Golf  we saw two little dogs, who were roaming round one small the other slightly larger and very bony, looked very uncared for not sure where they came from and although it seemed a long way for homeless dogs to come,  they definitely appeared to be without collar and home. We did not approach as not sure about rabies in Spain?

They even ventured along the road near our house, which was a surpirse as we had orginially seen them along the edge and open part of the site. If what is observed as small droppings then maybe this is from these animals.

Since visiting other foreign climes over the eyars I admit my concern is the homeless animals and this includes cats, present in many places . Where homeless dogs and cats roam freel: When holidaying in the Costa del sol y,ears ago I was sharing a bed with Rebecca who was a baby, window was open, I rolled over and awoke to find a stray cat sleeping there, Rebecca was on the floor. This happened another night so hence we kept windows closed and had a fan. So please beware of befriending and feeding stray animals they become a nuisance.

In defense of the people we met who are dog owners, all of these collected and disposed of any mess their dogs left responsibly.

I believe it is everyone is responsiblity,  to challenge anyone seen and the same thing goes for litter, it is something we all need to work at to ensure Sierra Golf stays the lovely place it already is, and what it promises to be for us all as owners.

We look forward to rubbish collections and having bins on site rather than the wait to find an empty skip.

Ray was talking about a Community group, these are issues that need to be part of this as well as a way of getting people together and socialising.

Hi all SGers,

Talking of loose dogs wandering around, when we were last on site back in feb I went outside to have a puff and came face to face with three scraggy looking cats sitting on my garden wall, the wife said were they wild I told her they were when I chased them off!!!

Hi all,

On the general subject of keeping the place neat and tidy it really doesn't take much effort  and doesn't need a commitee to get started!

All we need to do is pick up the rubbish you pass when your out walking just carry a plastic bag on your outward journey and deposit it in the skip when you pass ( I'm afraid as a non-dog owner I draw the line at picking up dog poo!) My neighbours and I have already started to weed the soil around the trees immediately outside out homes to stop then from taking hold.

A little vigilance from us all will keep this development clean.

June

Hi all,

I tend to agree with June, whilst the thought of starting a commitee is a good idea socially for lets say get togethers and SG advents I think it will cause problems with those that dont want to listen (not that there are anybody like that) to being told what to do or not to do, personal pride is the order of the day we have a very nice complex with very nice responsable people living on it surely we can keep it looking nice by not dropping rubbish in the first place then someone else would'nt have to pick it up and if everybody kept there frontage pavement tidy (swept, weeded etc) like they do in greece and other med countries those that dont care would soon become known.

As for dog poo!! I dont believe it's resident dogs but farell ones I'v seen them roaming on the out skirts of SG, their most likely attracted to the rubbish we throw out into the skips so the sooner proper bins are installed the better.

Lets make "Litter is a sin so pop it in the bin" as an SG motto!!

The Fromies.
