Hi

Can I just add that the light fittings I gave you were for the two bed Phase 1, we are Block 3. We have also an 3 bed phase 2 apartment and we managed to gain access as there was a workman there today. We noted that there was 3 ceiling lights in the hallway and one ceiling plus one wall in the two bathrooms. We have three adult children.

regards

Janice

Hi All

Does anyone know any good shops to buy lights for the apartment. Someone told me some of the shops will even install them for you. Is this true, or does anyone know any local electrician who can fit them quickly for us.

Hi Westport,
Shops like Imperial and Villapac indeed sometimes fit the lighting, but that is usually only when you buy a full furniture package with them. You can buy very nice lamps for reasonable prices at the big hardware stores like AKI (in the Miramar commercial parque) or Leroy Merlin (in the industrial area near Málaga). They have very big collections for both outside and inside lights.
If you want them fitted on the places where there are lightpoints now, it's not very complicated. If you want them on other spots it's a bit more work but in both cases we can take care of that for you.
By the way, of course the more expensive stores like El Corte Inglés sell lamps too, but ususally just the same models for a much higher price. I would advice to visit AKI or Leroy Merlin first.

Hi Saskia,
Will wall/ceiling lights bought here in the UK fit in Spain - is the wiring the same?  We are bringing our furniture over and thought we may buy lights here in the UK if  we see any.  Also could you confirm the number and type of light fittings needed? It was something we never made a note of when we were last over in the summer and I know you have the same type apartment as us.

Many thanks and looking forward to meeting you in the New Year!

Michelle

I put a few lights up a few weeks ago and they are the same as the UK , Live ,Negative and Earth. I got some light fittings from the euromarket and they were really inexpensive but look nice.

Hi Michelle, as said by Andy Irwin the lights from the UK fit here no problem. I would however advise to buy the lights in Spain, if only because if they break down and you need to bring them back, you don't have to go all the way to the UK.
As you probably know, the sockets are different from the ones in the UK, but you can buy adaptors for them on every street corner.

In our apartment the spots for lights are as following:
- hallway: two ceiling lights
- kitchen: one ceiling light
- bathrooms: one wall-light each
- living room: 3 wall-lights
- bedrooms: one wall-light each
- terras: 3 wall-lights

hope this helps.
