Does anybody know if there are plans for a pratice putting green? or if we will ever get one? I have played hundreds of courses around the world and I must admit, this is the only course I have ever played that doesn't have one!

There is perfect space for a putting green next to the first tee, it would not be costly and up keep would be minimal. They already maintain 18 geens, I'm sure one more would'nt hurt! even a chipping area too!

Surely this has been brought to attention before and surely the initial outlay would add value! if golfers know there are practice facilities they will arrive earlier.... spend more time on the resort and spend more money in the shop/bar

There are tons of small improvements that can be made on the resort to improve it. I'll mention them in a different post though!!

Hi jl123,

The original golf course was designed with the practice ground at the entrance and the club house at the centre of resort

The course layout was intended to be

The first tee and 18th green being beside the clubhouse that was never built. The space set aside for the putting green would have been there.

The course layout has been changed to accomodate the replacement club house being in the commercial centre. The land around here is probably owned by someone other than IRM, the golf course owner.

You can see from the top picture there was also intended to be a sports area. The land is still there with a lot of car park spaces but nothing was ever built.

Yes, there is lots we could do with the resort, including developing golf, sports and leisure facilities. The issue we have is that while Polaris World are still around, they probably still own these areas. We could hope for some sort of cash and/or land/property settlement for their community fee debt like happened at La Torre. Then the community would own these spaces and could develop them as they wanted.

Until then we are left with what is there. I personally would love to know who now owns what at Las Terrazas and what plans there are for further development. I had previously discussed this, but at present there appears to be little appetite amongst residents to develop things like paddle courts, tennis courts or even a putting green.

I suspect attitudes will change over time.

Quick update, I have had 1 reply from Enrique......

" Thank you for your email. I fully agree with you; in my opinion Saurines golf course is one of the best courses among the 6 that we manage but it has this lack of practice facilities. Unfortunately there is no room to build a proper driving range but this could be partially solved with a chipping/putting green. This is something that I have been proposing to the former owners of the course and to the current ones, and I have not positive news yet but I am very confident to succeed on this issue. I will keep you informed."

Hi all,

I completely agree with the sentiments of this thread ie that a quality course like Saurine  should have some basic practice facilities. I regularly go over to Torre  to use their range and putting green. I think we need to ensure that IRM understands our concerns. After every visit I email IRM and praise the course but express my concerns regarding the lack of practice facilities. I agree that a driving range looks unfeasible in the current economic climate but that a putting green and possibly a practice green with bunker should be achieveable with all the spare land we have although I understand the difficulties if polaris still own much of that. My advice is that all resident golfers who would like these facilities email IRM at every opportunity to let them know how we feel.

Hi goose,

I did have one from someone who previously replied who seemed to have some authority but I can' t get to it while I'm here in spain. I'll put it on this thread when I get back to the UK.  I generally send it to the normal reservations one ie reservas@irmgolfexperience.com and ask them to pass the comments on to their management.

Hi All,

I sent my usual email to IRM after my last stay, praising the course but expressing disappointment at the lack of practice facilities. Here's the reply I got from one of their management, which you may wish to note to send your own thoughts

Hi David,

Thank you for your email, comments and input.  Im glad to hear you are happy with the golf course, staff and restaurant at Saurines Golf.  Yes we understand the lack of practice facilities is a concern.  I have passed your email to the Directors of the 6 courses.  I do appreciate your input as it is always good to hear recommendations from residents and members of our courses that we can pass on to the owners/directors.

When I hear some news I will definitely keep you posted.

Many thanks,

Update: I emailed Enrique again and this is what he sent back.....

Nothing yet, I was visiting the golf course last Monday with the owners to insist on the convenience of counting on this facility, and they are quite convinced, but the budget needs to be approved by the board. I will keep you informed.

   Best Regards,

Maybe a little closer to getting a putting green!!
