I'm over here at the moment and by god "its quiet!". I see crapolas has closed, been told he's done a runner, he'll be sorely missed hmmmm !. Lets hope next time it opens, thats if it does, they'll put someone in who knows their ass from their elbow when it comes to catering. Until then, for a night out, its over to the Irish bar in la Torre. We went there last night , and it was a fantastic atmosphere, the place is so well run.

So , to anyone thinking of buying on here, well lets hope you like solitude and tumble weed. Perhaps you should look at buying a resale on la torre, I wish I had!.

As for the agents.....and thats any of them...... dont believe a word they say.... they'll sell you a dream, that just might just become a nightmare.

On the good side.... well if youve bought on here, as we have, then  look at it this way..... As in the words of the Tony Blair 97 election song..... " things can only get better ! ",as they cant get any bloody worse !. But, hey, youve bought on a site for 50 odd grand, that lots paid 160 for (poor buggers!), and if you look in to the distant future, perrhaps it'll come good, I hope so !. It really needs pressure on the resort managment to get their fingers out and get some facilities here as they promised. so lets all do just that !.

In the meantime...

Given that you think the Irish bar at La Torre is the epitome of what you are looking for, I am sure that you are in the wrong place at Terrazas.

Many of us completely disagree with you and are very happy to be at Terrazas.

I hope you soon get the chance to move to La Torre (or maybe to Benidorm). Perhaps your language will be more welcome there, although I could doubt that.

If the owners did a runner its the least subtle runner ever - Antonio told us all about the new he has in bar in Balsicas and that he was leaving Terrazas this month.  I always liked Coppolas but i don't mind change either.  Is the golf club bar still open Nic? I think we were told the plan was to keep the clubhouse bar open over the winter as its smaller and easier to heat.

To Jinksy, what made you buy on Las Terrazas, why didn't you buy on La Torre. I'll be back on La Terrazas next month really looking forward to it.

Having just spent 7 weeks on the wonderful Terrazas, all I can say is, are you sure it's not because people are avoiding you? We met up with several friends, spent some great nights in Coppolas and had several drinks bought for us by the wonderful Raffa! We were told on our first visit that he was finishing in November, mainly because of all the restrictions being made about how he wanted to develop the place. He is however still running Spikes bar, so if he did a runner he didn't get far!

He and his business partner have now opened two new restaurants, one in Balsicas and one in Roldan, both called Capital Central, and we personally wish him all the very best for the future. We visited the bar in Balsicas and had a fantastic meal there and a great evening.

While we were there, on several occasions Coppolas was quite busy and we had a great evening, but I suppose life is what you make it and if you make good friends on site, you will keep in touch with or without Coppolas! But when it is as late in the season as this, then it is going to be quiet, all the kids are at school and cannot be taken out, and lots of people are preparing to visit either at Christmas or New Year. It was far from a ghost town when we first arrived, and it was only in our last few days, as in November, that it went quiet.

As for walking on the golf course, let's hope that if you walk on it again you do not get hit by a golf ball, which is the reason for the Professional asking you to get off it, health and safety and all that, because if you then decide to try and sue someone, it is here in black and white that you were asked to stay off the course.

Let's hope that things pick up soon in the property market so that you can sell your place in Terrazas and move to La Torre.

Sharon & Richard

It's simple, if you don't like it, leave!

Behaving in a irresponsible manner, using foul language and generally spreading negativity is not good for the resort. Personally we love it and are very glad we bought at Terrazas!

Jinksy,

You are entitled to your opinion .what you must realise is the majority love the resort, yes we could do with the bar being resolved and a putting area for golf would not go a miss .However have a look round at the  golf course the trees around the resort there immaculate.La Torre is different I was there in August and played the course drove the resort.

It's a touch shabby in areas ,needing some tlc I thought .So go there, sell up and have your sing along in your plastic Irish bar ,no one cares .

Poor Tony!

It's not that we don't have a sense of humour, we just find bad language and the need to be rude to a person who is probably 10 times the person you will ever be quite distasteful!

Thank you for the analogy of the people on Terrazas, I am sure we all appreciate your advice to lighten up, perhaps you could do the same! Seems to be you who has the problem with authority, with being happy with your lot and enjoying life wherever you are! As for us, we are all quite happy and can make our own entertainment, that's what life is all about after all!

Hello,

I dont usually write on these forums, or take part in slanging bouts, which is what seems to be happening on this posting, I have looked at this forum many times, but not taken part, as I was not a member until now, so here goes.

If theres one thing that jinyx's posting has achieved is that he has made me decide to join so that I can air my opinion.

Just to fill you in on me. I am a female teacher, who bought a property on here , off plan, in fact my husband and I were one of the very first to do so. Like a lot of others, I paid the full price for our property, which is now worth circa 50k. Like a lot of others, we were indeed, sold a dream, which, as jinyx has put , has not been far from a nightmare. I feel that, having been in from the start, my opinion is as good as anyones, and in fact maybe better in some cases,  as I have seen the whole thing from when all this was  abandoned farm land. As all who were in the boat with me will confirm, the dream we were sold never came. Shops, bars, cafes, hairdressers, beauty parlours, eaterys, were just some of the facilities we were promised, tennis courts being another. as an avid tennis player, the lack of the tennis courts is the one that really gets my back up as this was the one thing that made us sign on the dotted line. If you look around the complex, you will see many an apartment which lies empty with the outside light wires hanging out of the wall, and if those walls could talk, what a sorry tale they would tell. In most cases it would be one of a decent hardworking family who put their hard earned money into a dream which did indeed become a nightmare. I personally know of one family who, like me, put down a hefty deposit on being sold this dream which never materialised, They lost their home through having to raise finance to complete the purchase of an apartment, after being chased by debt collectors, selling their home was the only way to be able to pay off the "Polaris sharks ". Polaris argued that they never promised such facilities, and it was not on the contract, well, let me tell you , Polaris were, and are, nothing more that professional liers!. They didnt even have the decency to let people walk away, which is the least they could have done and held their grubby hands up and admit  the lies they told to sell "the dream ".

Anyway, mine is not a case of sour grapes, good luck to you if you bought at a knock down price, and you're happy with one bar, which is now closed, but I make no bones about it "I'm not!".

Now to the subject in matter.

Ghost town or not, it really doesnt matter, everone is allowed their opinion, and I found the replys to jinyx's postings a bit harsh!. Yes, maybe you take offence to his wording but hey, at least he has an opinion. To say he was having a go at a person who in your words "ten times better than you"  is a bit strong, to say the least. I found his posting agreed with mine, and lots of others opinions, who thought the bar was run badly, in fact so badly, i stopped going in there. Raph, as you fondly refer to him, started off well and went rapidly down hill. The last time I was in there it was awful to say the least. No lights, terrible food, and his chronies smoking at the tables, you could see he couldnt care a toss!. Its well known that he left as he was'nt paying the rent, but, saying that, perhaps he should have been given a greatly reduced rent for providing the one and only facility on the complex which we bloody well need !. ( oh, sorry did I swear?).

So, you think the Irish bar in la torre is plastic? well at least they have a bar, plastic or not!. As for walking around the Golf course, which i have for the last few years, I for one, will carry on doing so. The point of maybe being hit by a golf ball is a risk I'm prepared to take, and I will sign a disclaimer to say so if need be. And, maybe in not so strong words, I will also tell the Professional where to go and, hey, he didnt write the F word, did he?.

If I could turn back time, I also woud have bought eleswhere, as long as it was a million miles from the Polaris sharks, never mind la Torre !.

There are a lot of newer owners on here seem to be walking around wearing rose tinted glasses. ok, youre happy with your lot and so you should be for what you paid but, I for one, and many of us original owners, would have liked to see more of what was originally promised. But, hey ho, spilled milk, and all that!.

So, from an old school a teacher, Jinyx, consider yourself a naughty boy, and go to the back of the class ( although I do find you amusing), and the rest of you , please dont rise to childish insults, and resort to a slanging match for Gods sake!. Just take all the postings as a sign that that person cares and DO NOT get personal, that includes you Jinyx........ oh....... by the way, do you really want a Sheepdog ?.... I might just know a man ..... haa haa!

I do think we are missing the point here and I may have my facts wrong but the Golf Course belongs to IRM and NOT the community or even Polaris.  Therefore by walking across it etc you are technically trespassing as only personnel or those who have paid to play at any given time should be on the course.  I’m not a golfer but these people pay good money to play a course that has a good reputation and do not want to have to worry about inconsiderate people treating it as park - would you just go ramberling across a golf course back home?

If residents continue to harass the golfers then the course will quickly get a bad reputation and people will stop paying to come - it will shut down and then we will have nothing but just a big over grown garden.  You will soon moan when the value of your property plummets even further as have many properties in Spain on shut down golf courses.  Please just adhere to the rules we have lovely communal areas and your not far from some fantastic national parks to wonder as much as you like.

Eve,

Yes I do walk across the golf course at home on a regular basis without any problem. I really dont think my meandering across this course over the past years  has ever been an issue. In fact I have had many a passing hello, and where are you from? said to me. By the way I also have (and do) play this course, and take it from me, it doesnt bother me in the least if anyone is taking a stroll in the sunshine, or rain around it. As for an overgrown garden caused by walkers on the course... well... I think you are going a little far to say the least, do you really think so?... I fear not! , oh, and please dont refer to me as inconsiderate, Im far from that, I find that a little sharp.

Lets not take this too far as I said in my last reply..... just lets agree to differ ....dont you think?

As I said, everyone has an opinion, lets not chastise or knock anyone for that please,

I think we all want the same thing for Las Terrazas, we need the aparments sold, the value of the apartments to keep rising, and Coppolas to be run well and succesfull.Things have been very promising lately with the skeletons being completed and a lot of apartments sold, we need another good two years to sell most of the apartments and for the resort to become established. Unfortunately, I don't think this thread will encourage people to join us at Las Terrazas, which is a great shame as the resort has a lot going for it.

Oldgit, ....... You don't have to go far to see the damage to a golf course that has closed down !!

UGR in La Tercia, very sad seeing a golf course get to this condition, Corvera Golf is another.

like a previous poster said if golfers are abused and their visits dry up then this course could end up the same way.

Oldgit, as you seemed to find our reply in particular the one to answer, we will just say one thing. Did you read the rules for this site? Because bad language is not acceptable from anyone, and while Jinyx might not have written the word, I think we all know what he was saying, and to tell a professional on a golf course to do what he said, is totally out of order. Is it any wonder the Spanish have a low opinion of the English?

As for the rest, we do not have rose coloured glasses, we have owned for almost 5 years, but as much as we were told it would all be wonderful, we were savvy enough to know that things would not be wonderful immediately, but maybe in the future. We were happy with that as we are in for the long haul, and we paid a lot more than 50k, but probably not as much as you did. We also don't think that when you purchased off plan, which I believe was around 2006, the Spanish or Polaris World knew there was going to be a recession that would hit everyone. Without the recession there is every chance the whole site would be finished and many more of the apartments sold.

If you actually go onto the the Las Terrazas site and read the minutes from the meetings, there is talk of putting Tennis Courts in next year, but we don't know any more than that.

While we can understand the anger at the lack of facilities, we do actually still have a bar as Spikes bar will be open. We were in Coppolas just 10 days ago, in fact on the last night before it closed, and we ate in there. The food was good, the lights were on, and there wasn't anyone in there smoking. There is further information on what is happening with the bar on the same page as the Tennis Court information. Because of the number of people coming to Terrazas in the winter months, keeping Coppelas open is not viable. It has been said that it will be open again next season, but we will see, we won't hold our breath.

As for us calling the owner Raffa, he has always been good to us, he has even helped us when we arrived once and our electric wasn't working by cooking us a meal (the chef had gone home and it was gone 11 p.m.), making us a flask of coffee, and letting us charge our mobiles in there. We can only speak as we find, and we have always been treated well. What we did object to was the mention that he had done a runner, when in fact he is still running Spikes bar. For the record, we once went into the Irish bar when we were staying at the hotel (which is now closed), and there were two young ladies in there who were so drunk that they couldn't walk and one of them vomited all over the carpet. Needless to say we haven't been back.

With regard to the mention of walking across the golf course, we were told when we moved on here that it was not permitted to walk on the golf course during playing hours, but it was ok when play had finished. We have walked across it on many occasions at night, either going to or coming back from Coppolas, and so have many others. Not sure if you were told this when you purchased? Or maybe it wasn't up and running then as we believe it opened in 2010?

As you say, we don't want to turn this into a slanging match, and we all have the right to our own opinions, just some of us express our feelings in a different way. Getting angry about it and swearing won't help, people are trying to get things done on the site, and Nick, the site President, has worked hard to get things moving and improve things. Also, this kind of negativity will not help to improve things, it will just ensure that anyone looking for a property will go elsewhere! As the saying goes 'Rome wasn't built in a day', and yes it is taking too long for things to be done, but that is Spain!

Dear Sharon & Richard,

Firstly, my name is Jayne, oldgit is my husbands "pen name", being ten years younger than him, I'll let him keep it!.

I was not replying to you in particular, but trying to play the Devils aAvocate as I seen the replies jinyx's posting becoming somewhat of a witch hunt and in my opinion, it seemed to be taken out of context. I really think that he might have been speaking metaphorlically.... where you Jinyx?... let us know please.

As for the Spanish opinion of us English, well, my husband is Spanish and believe me,we lived in Madrid for quite a few years and the Spanish can out do the english in swearing, besides a lot of other traits .

As for the last posting on golf courses .... least said..... they didnt die because of people walking on them for Gods sake!.

Hey, we're in a modern world were swearing is a part of the fabric of life, like it or lump it, but its here to stay, not saying I condone it, but I'm wise enough to accept it.

As for an answer to all the rest, well we can go on for ever. Whilst I love tennis, i dont like the  "ping pong" that these forum postings seem to create, which is excatly why I have never joined.

I accept that you have become good friends with " Raffa" and it sounds like he has been good to you but, to say he is ten times better than someone youve never met, and formed a negitive opinion on mearly because of a posting on here is a little big , to say the least, dont you think?.

As for tennis courts being built on here, I wont hold my breath, I've accepted it will never happen in the near future, as wont a lot of other things.

Finally, I'm glad you're enjoying it here, and believe it or not, despite the odds, so am I, but, hey, no thanks to the Polaris crooks!.

Just had a telling off from my Husband for getting involved in all this.... maybe he's right.

Jayne

We didn't think that people walking on the golf courses were the reason they died, we just follow the rules. They are the rules and if we all did just what we wanted, where would we be? Same for the swearing, it states on the rules of this site that swearing is not allowed, that's why I don't swear on here! Believe me I can, I was a nurse for many years, and that came with the job!!

We didn't say that Raffa (no commas needed, that's what we call him) was 10 times the person Jinyx was, we were talking about the Golf Pro. We also have a sneaking suspicion we have met Jinyx, but as he doesn't use his real name, we can't be sure, so didn't mention it! So we didn't form that opinion merely from the posting, and having met the Golf Pro, he seems a very nice man who has always been polite and respectful, so no we don't think it is a little big to say he is probably 10 times the person Jinyx is!  We were giving our opinion, the same as everyone else, but perhaps we should have mentioned that we thought we had met Jinyx then there wouldn't be this confusion.

We know there have been a lot of people who have been let down by Polaris World, and personally we are glad they are now out of the picture. We have made friends with a lot of people who bought off plan, and there are some very upsetting stories, which we think are a disgrace. We thankfully never got involved with them as we bought direct from the bank - we had heard enough not to touch them with a barge pole!

We are glad you are enjoying Terrazas, we love it there, even though we were there when they had the floods recently from the Gota Fria, and all we can say is after watching them pull several cars out of the underground garages in La Torre we are glad we didn't buy there (we almost bought an apartment with an underground garage the year before we bought on Terrazas)!

Take care and let's hope that Terrazas will one day be all that we hope for! With tennis courts, shops, bars, restaurants, a driving range, a putting green, a creche, think we best stop there, we are beginning to sound like Polaris World!

Sharon & Richard
