Although we have standard strip adhered to the bottom of our front door which tends to prevent light dust entering the property, it wasn't substantial enough to stop the heavy rain last night. Consequentally we had a lot of mopping up to do. Would be grateful for any recommendations of strips/fixings that could be used to prevent/reduce the ingress of heavy amounts of dust and possibly water.

many thanks

Not sure if people are also aware but built into the foot of the door is a rubber seal that can be lowered by an adjustment on the hinge side of the door at the bottom. Place piece of paper underneath to help test you are turning the screw in the right direction.

Won't fully stop water but just another small line of defence.

there are a number of things that will help with this the first is a foam strip that you can buy from Leroy Merlin for around €8

Sometimes the problems is the level of the approach to the door, so just put a level over it to see which way the water runs and you can add a threshold step on the outside of the door, to help prevent this, a simple step to build, or piece of treated timber

The last solution will sound slightly odd, we find that sometimes the problems is that the water hits and runs down the front door, pooling at the bottom and entering the property and there are 2 solution that can prevent this the first is a simple porch roof cover, again from Leory Merlin, which stops the rain dropping onto the door and front area

What the Spanish do is put a simple roller blind over the front door, again stopping the water hitting the door and rolling down

We have used all of the above solutions on various properties but any barrier ideally needs to be on the outside of the door

I had a property on La Torre same problem, i got a couple of the same tiles that was allready laid, then sat the tiles on top of them like a little step, worked fine, i had outside stairs on the property so when rained all the water would end up coming at my front door.
