Storm Damage in Don Juan

Just received a text that in the gales last night the big weather canopy at the top floor of Block 1 blew off over the roof and landed on or near Max's block damaging some tiles in the process - satellite dish also out of action.

Please someone let us know more about this incident - if anyone was injured for example and the extent of the damage.

Yes it's true about the roof. I heard a huge bang. I thought it was maybe someones table and chairs had gone over their terrace. When I got up the roof was lying in a mangled mess on top of the footpath leading into block 2 taking out the fence and knocking a few roof tiles off of the lower roof section on block 2. We have no satelite now. If possible if you know anyone in block 1, can they get it fixed as I have now flown back to the UK. I was over for Liz's funeral from Tom's Irish bar. We were good friends for 15 years. As Debdoug said in another post. She was an amazing human being. Always happy, full of chat. One of those few special people you meet in life. We are all in shock at the moment. Rest in peace Liz.

The post below shows a picture of the canopy which literally took off yesterday morning lying in the street. Thankfully no one was underneath when it fell. The mess is cleared up and everything was made safe. The insurance assessor is coming in the morning.

Gemsat need someone in block 1 who has Sky to be there while they re align the dish. If that is you please get in touch with them (or me if you don't have their contact details)

Just had a word with Gwen of GemSat who checked out the installation on Block 1 this morning - it looks like the satellite dish and other equipment will have to be replaced - not simply a re-alignment I'm afraid.  He said he will be contacting the community by email later this evening to outline the damage & repairs needed etc.

There is quite extensive damage to both the roof of block 1 and block 2. Making the roof weather proof is a priority and we have to get the insurance company's approval but we will get the satelite systems repaired as soon as we can.
