Anita on the Corvera Forum has posted the link below.  That 5 minute taxi ride from the airport  will disappear.

I think you might find that discussions will get quite heated between the local businesses, San Javier Airport, Aena and San Javier council with the Murcian Government.

They were promised that San Javier would not close and hence there has been so much investment in the local area.

It would be a massive blow to the local economy if this happened.

I'm sure it will be of no consolation to anyone but my money is on Aena winning the day.  I worked for a number of years in another Spanish airport run by Aena (as most  Spanish airports are) and have to say they are truly a force to be reckoned with.

After reading the latest Simplynetworking it looks like Aena has been well compensated for the closure of San Javier & are going into Corvera to look after air traffic control.  So going by this they are now happy to move, unlike the rest of us that use San Javier on a regular basis.

The fact that it is closing is bound to have a knock on effect for the immediate area.  What a pity.

From reading the news about Corvera airport it is reported that it is due to open spring 2012.  Does anybody know or heard when San Javier is due to close to civilians?  We have a few flights already booked for July & August 2012 with Jet2 so I am a bit worried about what will happen.  Have already phoned Jet2 but they where unable to help.
