Hi,

I understand a notice has gone up in the Portals stating the mains electricity is about to be connected.  For those of us not in Neuva Manilva at the moment, could someone tell us what we need to do? Do the electricity people need access to our apartments to connect our supplies? Does this also mean that once the electricity is connected the lifts will be working?

Any information gratefully received!!!!

Francine

IT'S TIME!! We have to go and contract our meters now...ASAP

Some notices went up on Friday but we had to take them down as we didn't know who put them up and Promobarna told us it was a mistake.

Yesterday we're then told that we DO have to do it now.

So, detailed notices have now been put up by GAEMU and letters shoved under all the doors.

If your lawyer is handling connecting up the Sevillana then instruct them to do it ASAP.

You will need your "boletin" which is a coloured slip of paper that you were given on completion (your lawyer may have it).  Also a copy of the licence of first occupation, a copy of the escritura, your bank details and NIE number.  The application can be done over the phone or in person in Estepona.  The fee for a 4600W connection is 138 Euros.

After application Sevillana will contact you within 5 days to arrange a date and time to fit the meter, they will need access to your property.

Hope fully that explains it all.

The developers elec will be cut within 2 weeks so anyone not connected before then will be left with no electrcity.

Any questions??

Justin

Hi Tersa

I don't think you need to panic.  Contact your solicitor - when you completed you should have made provision with them to set up the contract witht he electricity company.  Even if you haven't they should be able to do it for you and set up a dd with your bank.  Mine did it within a day. It's unclear whether access to the apartments is needed or not.  I rang GAEMU yesterday and they seem to think they don't need access! Does someone hold a key for you? If so, you could ask that they be contacted for access.

JUSTIN: Does the electric being connected mean the lifts will be operating?

I'm afraid they DO need access to your apartment.

They have started fitting meters today and the developer's power will be cut off next week at the latest.

If you haven't been able to get the meter sorted before then then you will be without electricity.  You can expect them to fit it within 5 days of applying for it which can be done in person or over the phone.

Justin

My Solicitor contacted me today re fitting of the Electricity meter, we are not coming out until 17th April.

The power WILL be cut off if they do not fit a meter, access to apartment is required.

This means ALL of the food in our deep freeze will be ruined and the freezer as well. I dread to think what

the smell will be like, it will make the apartment un- inhabitable till cleaned out.

This is NOT ON but what can I do? I have been paying Endesa by standing order since we started, nearly 3 years

over 3000 euros and they will still cut me off. I really think this stinks.

we havent paid endesa anything for electric since we bought the place, i hope we dont get hit with a big bill.

i dont see why they have to have access when all the meter stuff is in the cupboard next to the front door. they dont need access to change a meter.

we are not out until 15th april and only for a week. if it takes 5 days to get the meter put in its a good job we have somewhere else to stay. what about the people who arent so lucky.

are we going to have all this again when the water supply is sorted

teresa, don't worry, you won't be getting a big bill.  I don't understand why Ray and Pauline have been charged anything.

Unfortunately there is no option but to have a cut off point for the developer's electrcity.  It should happen next week.  They need access to your apartment because they have to fit some sort of limiter in your fuse box.

When it comes to contracting the water it should be easier but we'll see.

Hi Justin,

Just to be clear, are you saying that those of us who have not left keys with anyone, will be without electricity when they next come out?

That said, I am out on 17 March for four days, can I get my solicitor to arrange for Sevillana to come in on the 19th, the Monday, or do I have

to wait? If this is possible, others could do the same!

regards, Paul Smith

Hi Janet,

I am out to NM on 17 March and Sevillana are supposed to connect me up on 19 March.

Why the €350? I understood from justin we only had to pay €138 for the meter. Are there other charges then?

Best wishes

Paul Smith

Hi Paul

I paid E250 for my connection, automatically debited from my bank acocunt.  I think it's to do with if you require the higher power strength (6.9 and advisable to avoid 'trips') and also it probably depends on the size of your apartment.  I know when Jan enquired in the electricty office she was told E230 plus taxes for a 6.9 connection. Janet has 3 bedroom apartment, so maybe that's why hers was more.

Ours only came to 138 Euros and we were told the option we went for was sufficient for our 3 bed.  We'll have to wait and see!

Hi Justi,

Were you given the option of a higher power rating. Do they come early or can it be any time of the day.

Any more news abount planting bushes and fencing the area at the bottom of Bloque 1?

regards,

Paul

Hi Paul, its right we did have the top one for the electricity but we  where told it would be 230euros maxi but the debit out of the bank is 333euros. we will be sorting it out with Gaemu. Justin was yours low because you are using yours as an office and not as living accomodation. janet.

I must admit I was a little unsure as to why I paid 229 euros.

Clearly something is not right if we are all paying various amounts, do Geamus have a role to help in this matter?

Janet

I only went with their advice.  I was told that was the norm for a 3 bed apartment with no air conditioning.
