Happy New year to you all

I had hoped to come out in January but we were snowed in at Gatwick. Hope to be out in March for a weekend.

Not sure if it helps any one, I had a bill from Endesa 30 December 2009 for 14,47. Over all i have not stayed in the apartment for more then 3 weeks During my stay I did worry about leaving the water heater on all day. So when i had enough hot water i used to disconnect the plug. I must say it was inconvenient especially with the plug being so tight and not easy to take out. I was always worried the whole fitting would come off. Is there anything on the market with a switch which would make it easier to operate. ON my last trip i had an almighty bang in the apartment. The fuse blew left a burning smell. Once i tripped the fuse again  all was fine except the door bell did not work. Hope to get that seen too next time im out.

Just for info I wrote to the admistrator Juan asking for a date for the next AGM he replied that it will be sometime in May.

Adios for now

freddie

Hello again. there is a web page www.endesa.es in wich you have telephone to call. Also they have a defender of the client , who is responsible of all the complaints. Bur, please, dont expect them to help you in english... Any way, next time I receive mi bill I will tell you the exact number. I reiterate, don worry too much, it is quite nirmal. For example, I have contracted the maximun power I could because it is the very first time all my devices are electric , including the heating. I think it is, more or less, 7000 w.

The meter cupboards in our block were open at New Year.  It is a mortice type lock, the key from the UK wouldn't work (maybe).

We aren't out until Easter and I am sat in Saudi until the day before we travel.  We shouldn't use any electric until then, so there should only be a standing charge.

I can't say I am unhappy.  It does seem all above board and I suspect that if we had sight of the Endesa bill it would explain it for us.  I guess that my bill is going to the post office at the bottom of the road and then being sent back to Endesa when it is not collected.  When I am next there I will pop in and see if anything is there for me.  I suppose I could reroute the bill to another address, not sure if they would send it to the UK.  I may enquire when I am next there.  To be fair I would prefer the higher breaker and pay slightly more, knowing that I will not have electric over load cut outs in the summer.  Would the meter cupboard keys used in the UK work the locks on the meter cupboards there?? That way you could monitor the meter reading, but without sight of the bill this is useless as you don't know what you have been billed for.

I am waiting in anticipation for the next direct debit to go from my account.  Will it be HIGHER! or LOWER!....sounds like a tv game show LOL

Hi All

Tracey as you say we seem to be on the higher conection charge , I did ask my Sol about this at the time and his reply was  I was on the high power conection which would allow me to have more things going at the same time  but to be quite honest I have not seen  much of a change from when we had the builders supply, looks like you and i have been stung again,

I will be writing to the admin to see if he can have something done about not being able to read our meters because at the moment we have to take what ever the say as being correct.

Carlosb, you say you contacted Endesa and have your bill sent to your home address could you please post or /PM me with the address and persons you contacted as I would like to have mine sent to the internet cafe in the port , at least then I can see what I am paying for instead of just handing over the money , do have any idea on how we stand regarding the law as to reading our meters ?,

Regards

Robbie  ,unhappy Endesa customer.

About de bills. If you did not say any other thing, go to the apartment. In my case, I ask the company to send them to my address in Madrid. In your case, ask  the company to send them to your advocate.

Paul do you have access to your meter?  Have you seen one of your written bills??

I have no idea where my bills go, but it would be good to see them.  I think that maybe Robbie and I are on a different charge/connection as we appear to paying more.  Need the others to contribute on this topic so we can all do a comparison.

Since we have gone metered I have sent in DD 318.06euros and in that period have only spent 5 days there.  Although, until we arrived on the 16 Nov the mains was turned on therefore we were heating water and paying for the fridge.  I am out again in a few weeks will be interesting to see how the DD changes.

Many thanks Carlosb for the explanation.  Makes more sense now.

I noticed Robbie that ours was very similar.  Our first payment same (247.00) and our December payments were the same. My November payment was more due to us being there for four days and yours was more for January due to you being there.

Paul yours seems to be a lot less than both of ours are you on a different rate or have you a special arrangement with Endesa??

HELLO. I think the bill is correct. I believe that the structure of the invoice is different here in Spain.  First of all, the price of electricity has increased since 1st of january. Second. There are three parts in de invoce, two of them fixed and the other variable. The first depends on the powoer you have contracted. the more power yoy have the most expensive is this fixed cost. Second: Another cost is the meter and the line. The third: What you have consumed, but there is one month in which is nor real, it is estimated ( and average). Any way, every thing is electric: the water, the fan, the cooker. A tip: If you dont switch off the electricity, the device for hetaing the water will remain going on and heating, and it is very expensive.

I have red all of you readings and seem normal  to me.

Finally, only the ocmpany has the key of the meters lock. Nobody can have one.

Hi Pdrich1

What was the total number of days you spent there as our bill compared to yours does seem rather high  I wonder if it is the type of heaters we are using we have the electric fan type,even if they are dear to run if you take of the standing charge it still works out at around just under £5.00 per day which to me is very high,the only thing I can do is to try again and get a key and get a copy made if anybody gets hold of one could the please make a few copies as I presume they are all the same, as we need to keep a check on this,

Cheers

Robbie / Barbara

Our A/C was also knackered (again) and we had 2 x 750watt oil filled heaters for the 12 days.  Seems hard to beleive you used more than double the leccy we did as I assume we were billed for the whole period last week as we didn't arrive until the 28th December.

We also used just over 100 units in the time we were there.

Hi All

With regard to elec bills these are what have been taken from our account , bearing in mind that we did not stay there between Sept and the 23rd Dec 09  we then stayed up to 13th Jan 10  and even if it was cold the last D/D they took seems quite high, although we did have 2 heaters on as the A/ Con was not working, I wish we could read are own meters I have tried to get a key for the electric cuboard but had no luck (any good lock pickers out there ),

Bills so far,

09.10.09 = 247.00

28.10.09 =  6.11

27.11.09 =  1.00

27.11.09 =  21.11.09

30.12.09 =  18.93

05 .01.10 = 128.47

I have no idea how the come to this figures and it seems that you can never find out , but if it keeps on going up at this rate it will become to costly to turn the A / C in the winter ,we are not due out untill end of March will just have to keep checking D/D,

Cheers

Robbie / Barbara,

Tracey,

We have paid out as follows:

10 Nov   187.82

27 Nov    26.60

2 Dec      3.71

30 Dec    14.37

5 Feb       47.97

Bridget was out for 5 days in early November and we had 12 days over the New Year so ours are probably about right.  I have been trying to find out how much a unit costs, but no luck yet.

I also don't know how we get our bills because the post office are returning all arenal mail unless you get in there for the 15 days they hold it.  Found that out in January.

Paul

Hi All

Just wanted to run this by you all.  Below is a list  of payments taken from my bank account Endesa for the electric.

23/10/2009  £                 247.09
27/11/2009  £                  30.95
30/12/2009  £                  18.93
05/01/2010  £                  21.09

The apartment has been empty since 16 Nov, when we switched the switch and cut all electric running in the apartment.  I don't understand why it has risen for Jan 2010.  When no one has been there.  Have any of you had a similar experience??

Good Morning. I can explein you what is going on:  According with the spanish law, the have to send the electricity bill every month, but the do not  a real reading every month, only each two, so one month there is no reading, is an average.

Our DD was €14,37,so they can't have read the meters as we were there all the time you weren't Ken. Our cupboard was unlocked so we'd been taking the reading every day so we might eventually be able to check it!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Can't wait to get back out on Thursday
