I know this sounds  really stupid, but do you have to actually have a TV before PW can install the package or can they do it without a TV set in the apartment?

Hi Cherrie

I would say not as they set it up and tune all the channels in for you, I also think they enter some codes whilst doing this, so I suspect if they have to come back they will charge you for a new call out.

Thanks Phil,

The reason why I ask is because we haven't bought a TV yet, and as we are out in July, if we are going to have the PW package and take advantage of the discount, then we had better sort out a TV first. Thanks again.

Cherrie

Guys

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I think it's a good deal. Problem is, I have e-mailed customer services at PW to confirm the price of 209 euros a week ago and they haven't replied, surprise !

We are out in July and want to know if I sign up for one will they hold the price until I'm back out which will be October. I'm asking because it seems a deal only on in the Summer. Does anyone know if Customer Services are the best people at PW to ask?

Thanks

Phil

Ant

We are out on the 4th July for a few days so unless I hear from PW I migth just see if they can do it at short notice whilst we are there and go and buy a TV. It's over and done with then.

Cheers

Phil

They only install on Tuesday's and Thursday's- so trying to get it installed during a short break may prove difficult especially as they have increased interest at the moment. We've had it paid for on the 9th hoping for installation on the 11th but they couldnt do it until 15th.

I bought a tv and plugged it into the aerial and there are 2 English channels,(channel 34&35) that have at least 90% of English speaking tv shows and a Disney channel which is 100% English speaking (channel 14). For me thats probably enough at the minute........ Best Wishes. Geoff.

Can you clarify how you get 90% of English speaking shows with just two channels (34 & 35).

I think he means that the two channels in question show about 90% english speaking programmes and about 10% spanish speaking programmes

Geoff - We managed the same with just a standard ariel

Disney Channel and Sony Channels are both in English. The rest of the channels are Spanish but you can watch sport and dubbed Amercian TV (Simpsons in Spanish is quite amusing)

I've been told watching local programmes and news is one of the best ways to learn Spanish so I might give it a go

So Geoff, just so as I understand this.

Both channels(channels 14,34 &35) have 90% and 100% English?

Does that mean the cartoons are in english only on the Disney channel?Or does 10% of the characters speak another language?

I don't think Scooby Doo speaks Spanish anyway.

Happy viewing(100% of the time)

John

you might have to prgram your TV to the English language mode - some of the channels seem to be dual lingo !

I'm guessing when I say that 90% of the tv shows are in English, I didn't do a scientific survey or anything, it might be 95%,who knows..... All I know is, most of the tv shows on the Sony channels, 34 & 35 are in the English language and the other 5-10% of the shows are in Spanish and there is also a Disney Channel, which has all kids tv shows in English. I would hold off buying the PW box until you see these channels,as I'm sure we won't be watching much tv when we're there, as we'll be on the terrace or in the pool or playing golf, or in the pub, etc.. I hope this helps my big mate 'Jaydee', (John De Toot) as he's more than likely gonna be mostly interested in the Disney Channel as he's so happy when he's watching cartoons,as you can already probably tell by his disappointment at the suggestion that Scooby Doo will be speaking Spanish.... TeeHee... Hope this helps. Geoff.

You just go with your passport, or your representative goes passport number to the Polaris office on the resort- close to the security gate. They will not do this by telephone and they only install Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I'm with you Barry. I paid the 400 euros. Have tried to get in contact with Cristina at ''customer service'', but without success to discuss this. Yet another shot in the foot for Polaris.

I have paid 209 Euro and am happy with that, even though I know it will probably be 100 Euro next summer! This is what happens with most electrical items, look on the bright side you have had more use from the TV, I have had to play old DVD's for the past year and watch old American Reruns on the Sony Channel.

Having paid 125K plus euros for my apartment and its now worth about 90k, that is of far more concern that the fall in Set Top Box prices.
