Is anyone worried about the current problem with burglaries on new builds. Ive been doing some research and i dont want to alarm anyone but its a bit of a rising problem at the moment. Still not as bad as the UK by any means but new builds are targeted in general ... just look at the general discussion board as an example there are some scary stories which are worrying me. Is anyone else interested in setting up neighbourhood watch or chipping in for some sort of site security. Im just thinking out loud.... any ideas welcome. Or any information to put my mind at ease would be most welcome as well please.

Thanks Tina

Hi Tina

Which posting should we be looking at on the general forum?

We  picked a leaflet up re alarm systems when we were over in November, but hadn't looked at it any further.

We have asked Alan & Sheila to ask about the security guard on the visit to the Taray office posting

Kind Regards Sue & David

Hi there

If you go to the general discussions message board and then property crime in Spain there is a few bits of info and stories there. on google i also found articles from the spanish papers, some families claiming they have been gassed in the night waking in the morning to find everything gone. That terrifies me, i dont want to be scaring people but these are current issues and we need to be aware if we are going to prevent this happening on our site.

Ive done research on alarms and silent alarms that connect to a security centre seem to be what scares the burglars rather then an acoustic alarm that everyone ignores. There is loads on the internet about the different alarms in Spain, you can also rent an alarm system paying a monthly fee which in some cases is upgraded free of charge when improved ones become available. We still havnt decided what we will do yet.

Any info out there let us know

Tina

Hi

I have spoken to a company called securitias direct (who were recommended) and an alarm with panic buttons that are live to a security centre seemed to be around 550 euros for alarm  and installation and 30euros p/m to have the alarm on line for live monitoring. If its triggered then the alarm company listen in ask for a pass word if no response they call your mobile, if no response they call the police.

If anyone is interested the number for the Murcia branch is 968287268. please note that they wont give you a quote untill they have been around to your property. I got the above prices form someone else who used this company and is very happy.

Hi

I also saw this on the general forum under CRIME. May interest some people or may not but worth showing it to you! (hes made a bit of a mistake with regard to where he will be but waiting for that to be corrected)

Dear all maybe I can help the situation of the growing problem of Burglaries
My name is Richard Powell, I am a former Police Officer and now own and run Spanish Retreat Security

Spanish Retreat Security provides Street Wardens to Urbanisations, who provide high visibility 24 hour patrols, crime prevention advice, alarm response, set up and participate in local resident meetings, share information with the Police, local officials and other residents. All our Street Wardens are fully security and Police checked, and most importantly are friendly and helpful, and speak both Spanish and English, and all the residents get a local rate number to call that is directed straight to the Wardens so they can be contacted in an emergency.

There are several Urbanisations in the area who will be joining the Street Warden Scheme in the next few months, and I would welcome the chance to speak to you further about the idea and see how we may be able to help you I am in the are between the 28th and 31st of January and if possible would like to meet you.

I look forward to speaking to you soon

Richard Powell
