I have been living as a Resident of Sucina for 5 months now waiting on my completion. Habitation Licenses are all to hand but the hold up for completion date of last week in May has been CAM bank in Alicante who are handling mortgage applications. While at my flat today getting quotes for bug blinds I was told that 4 people are completing in next week or two as they don't need subrogation mortgage. The builder is cracking on with the WHOLE building and is in no financial difficulties as I have got to know him and his family since I moved here.

Cam bank have told me that I will get word of my mortgage 1st week in June and then hopefully I will move in permanently mid June as I only have to move my furniture from my villa here to my flat.

If anyone needs help with quotes for anything, deep cleaning, bug blinds you can reach me via this site. I have had someone do an initial snagging but nothing major found. After completion you will be allowed only 1 snagging to be done and submitted to builder.

Most of retail units have been let on ground floor. Upper is moving from across the road to our building, and we shall have a Spanish Restaurant/bar near roundabout, a coffee/cake shop, a hairdresser, furniture shop, plumbing merchant's office, and possibly another bar or restaurant.

In last month or two the following have opened up in village: Fish & Chip Shop, British Butcher, Indian Restaurant, and Pizzeria.  Cost Cutters has closed down (probably because Iceland is just down the road at San Javier.

Following are plans due to happen by September:

Pedestrianisation of centre of village near Church with seating outside for bars/restaurants there.

KwikSave changing into a restaurant but looking for other premises for their shop;  Frank from Bodega is building an outside bar area on waste ground opposite their bar/restaurant; bypass should be completed; road to Hacienda Requelme to be finished .

June

Thanks for your post. It certainly is more positive than info I have been getting recently.

I am waiting on subrogation mortgage, so glad it is not just mine that is being delayed.

A few Sucina bar/restaurant observations from our brief visit last weekend:-
ROSARIOS had a fantastic tapas selection, 7 large plates between three of us and drinks for €10 each. Opening times Mon-Fri 7.30am to 4pm, 8pm to 11pm, closed Saturdays.
The PIZZA PLACE was quite busy, friendly staff, but the door dosnt close properly so its a bit chilly! Food was fine. Decor reminds me of the Indian restaurant (which we avoid if possible).
FRANC LOUISE good atmosphere as ever, and as busy as I have seen it on Saturday. Saw people sitting in that strange glass fronted section to F&L. Whats that all about?
PLAZA BAR was packed on Friday for the Barcelona match on TV. Basic food is ok too. Still has odd opening times as yet undiscovered.
EL MESON DEL VINO , very nice meal in good surroundings. Also there is a bar area and some came in just for a drink. Would have been even better had the waitress managed a smile.
DONDE AYER, oh dear. With new owners it has gone to the bottom of the league I am afraid. Apart from one Mahou sign the outside lights are left off. The warm tapas counter has gone, so too the special top table (to be replaced with a table football machine). Food is no longer served at night and unless you are 15-22 and Spanish I wouldn`t bother unless its for a quick half.
EMs BISTRO was very busy when we walked past which is good to see.
Building progress on the `green house` opposite the now closed fish & chip shop has moved on. Inside is cleared and the derelict plot next door is now walled in and I assume that it will be an outside area for this new bar/restaurant.
ARCO BAR much the same as last visit although new attractive barlady has replaced previous attractive barlady. On second visit got a free plate of nuts - marvellous.
