Car hire

Hi,

We are coming out next tuesday and have real difficluty hiring a car. No where seems to take debit cards - everywhere only takes credit cards. The problem is, neither me or my partner have a credit card. Is there any other way to hire a car?!  If so, can ayone suggest a company we could use?

This is normal: I haven't yet met a car hire company that will take a debit card. It is to do with the fact that extra charges (damage/fuel etc) can be guaranteed/taken with a c/c and not with a debit card.

My wife was stranded in Stansted years ago without a c/c and had to take a bus!!

Hi,

we have several times paid by visa electron, but the only company to accept this is Gold car, have hired both at San Javier and Alicante, hope this helps, www.goldcar.es

We also use a Visa Electron card (issued by the Banco Halifax Hispania).  We have been renting cars for over two years out of San Javier and Alicante airports using this card. We always rent with Sol Mar via Bravo Car Hire.
