Community meeting phase 2

Hi, i have recently received an email from the president of our community on phase 2 (C1) which i think is just the apartments but  i'm not 100%.  He called a meeting just before Christmas, that only 8 out of 84 attended (bad timing probably!) He has since called another meeting for Saturday 21st February. Javier (the president) mentioned that he has very few details of the people that purchased so is unable to communicate properly with them.

I have now received another email from the administrators (Bahiasol), 3 in fact, but it is all in Spanish.  I have since asked them for a translation in English but are yet to get a response.

If anyone would like Javier's details, please send me a private message and i will forward them on to you.  He has set up a forum for Phase 2 residents, so that anyone can 'air' any problems that they may have, but so far there are only spanish using it.

One of the issues that will be spoken about at the next meeting is the problem of not having English television.  Our apartment is on the middle floor, and not having the use of the solarium, we are in a predicament as to where a sat dish could go without it looking unslightly.  This issue has arised from other Brits, and a communal dish has been mentioned.  Obviously the more people that ask for this, the chances of getting it will be higher.

Hi Sarah, we are not on phase 2 but phase 3A. We have moved in but are awaiting our phase to move on to the amp;committee stage.

A couple of suggestions for you.

1)  Re Satellite - Have you thought about contacting neighbours with rooftop access to share a system amongst a few appartments. We have installed a dish with a quad LNB, so any neighbours are welcome to connect up to our dish (Bloque 2 if anybody interested). I suspect a phase wide approach may be a long time coming. Other alternative is that Spanish TV does transmit some programmes in English if you have a digital receiver.

2) For translation of your emails try Babelfish on Altavista; and select appropriate language conversion. I cannot post the link here as the system does not allow it because I have not made 10 posts!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the advice.  I did try to contact my neighbour above, but he is undecided as to what to do.  My next door neighbour is also English, so he is also putting the feelers out.  Hopefully we can resolve the problem one way or another.

I will try Babelfish for the translation.

Don't place too much trust in Babelfish. As an experiment, put in a text to translate from English to Spanish and then translate it back from Spanish to English. The results are often comic and frequently unintelligible.
