The decision !

So the decision was made to leave England, but where do we move to ?

As a child I had many holidays in Mojacar, it was different from how it is now ! The road from Almeria airport was a narrow costal mountain track, in many places hardly wide enough for the coach let alone passing cars ! The journey was made even more hair raising by the cars at the bottom of the precipice!
But once we had arrived we would spend time by the pool, reading playing, walking into the Pueblo (you could in those days as no cars or road !).
The Playa had hardly anything apart from the hotel Indalo and one or two restaurants ! The promenade was being build the last time we hoildayed here ! It is unrecognisable today, although still holds a very special place in my heart !

Then Barry (my husband) remembered a friend he had known for 25 years had moved to Spain and was renting out apartments, depending where they were, we could maybe check out Mojacar and stay there !

When we looked at the map we found that they where just over an hours drive from Mojacar, perfect! We were now getting excited this seemed to be a positive sign, so we booked to go and see what the area had to offer !
Things seemed to get better and better, when another friend Bernard told Barry about the Mill he had to renovate and how he was going to turn it into an outdoor activity centre ! Would Barry like to manage it for him when it was finished, YES, our prayers had been answered !

Full of excitement the four of us boarded a plane to Granada, the heat hit us as we left the plane, July in Spain is so lovely and warm !
The views on the drive where spectacular,  until that is we got to a town called Baza, then my heart sank ! It was like an industrial estate, I knew we where close to Serón but how close I had no idea, was it going to be like this in Serón ?
Thankfully no ! We also now know that Baza is a very beautiful, culture filled town, which has an industrial estate on the outskirts !
As we drove pass Baza the landscape became very flat, strangely flat, an odd building here and there. Then the mountains start to appear on the right hand side, like out of nowhere, stunning. We drove through a small strange village which seemed to be cut into two by the road. Turning off towards Serón and there it was the picturesque white washed village resting quietly in the hills. Wow, I was in love !
