Spain's housing secretary 'in denial' about expat property problems

Marta Andreasen MEP has claimed Spain's secretary for housing 'is in denial' regarding the severity of the problems affecting British expats who have invested in Spanish property, following a heated exchange at an international property exhibition in London.

The argument took place following a speech delivered last week by the Spanish housing secretary Beatriz Corredor, who called for Britons to trust in Spain and to take advantage of its ripe property market.

Miracle - someone speaking up for the ordinary Brit. I no longer have a vote in the UK but if I did have I would vote for her that's for sure. It's within the European Courts and the European Parliament that anything that can be done will be done. The powers that be in Spain are too corrupt within to get off the gravy train and suddenly become morally upright. First they take a back hander from a developer to allow them to steal some land. Then they take a bit more to allow the building quality to be to third world standards; then they take another back hander to allow the infrastructure to be inadequate. Then they look across at something far more in keeping with the local area than the new development they've just helped take course and order it to be torn down on some moral high ground of new retro-active laws! Something needs to be done before I will buy back in Spain and that is the case with thousands of potential investors from the UK and Northern Europe. When will these idiots in councils throughout Spain realise that this is preventing a lot of inward investment be it pound sterling; Norwegian Krones or Swedish Kronas?
