Buses from Malaga to Olvera
Friday, May 4, 2012 @ 3:05 PM

I just knew they were out there, rumours of buses, 2 a day, 4 a day from Malaga to Olvera, and then easy journey to Pruna , theories abounded, googles were done, websites found, bus companies emailed, but nothing, nada.

So I hit on the great idea of going to the Olvera estacion to find out the truth.

Entering the deserted bus station I found a timetable, proof of four  buse a day  Malaga to Olvera! And as Olvera is only a 10 minute drive you are able to ask neighbours for a lift, or take a taxi.

Now I need help with this, there are two bus companies, both from the central bus station? Is one better than the other (ie does one stop in every village on the way?)

Will update this blog entry with all new info I receive.

My next trip to Pruna will be by bus from the airport, I am determined to free myself from car hire

Hello
I am thinking about buying a property in Pruna and seen your blog and was recommended it by estate agent, about public transport as I don't drive. Would like to know all about the issues with buses train etc and how to head to Malaga sometimes if its possible!
I am also a widow now and wondered in all honesty is this area a bit remote?
many thanks

Hi there

My best bet to you is to fly to Seville, from Gatwick, one a day leaving at 6.30am, the 12.30pm from the bus station gets you directly through to Pruna by 2.45pm.

Or an early flight to Malaga then the 12.30 bus to Olvera, i hour wait in a cafe, then a bus to Pruna,

Or even take a taxi, 80 euros should do it!

I would recommend renting in the village first, get to know if you can live there (I can probably put you in touch with people who would be happy to rent their house out for a few hundred euros a month).

It is not a remote village, it is on a direct bus route to Seville, and a direct road to the larger Olvera, but properties are half the price of Olvera, and the town is much more authentically Spanish.

There is a facebook page page, prunalibre that can give you more information and comments as well, or email me on brightonmanna@yahoo.co.uk and I will give as much guidance as you wish.

best of luck, I love Pruna.

Hi, how safe is it buying property in Spain nowadays. I would like to buy in Pruna but I am nervous of having this property taken from me by Spanish government. Also how safe is living there if
u r a woman living alone

Hi, i will be visiting in May Olvera with a view to buying a tiny place. I will fly from Bournemouth to Malaga at 7am. I would be grateful for any advice!

No problem, if you leave at 7am, you will arrive at 10.45 ish. leave airport at 11.30 ish, take airport transfer bus (walk out of arrivals at go directly ahead and the bus stop is there) to the bus station. (5 euros ish)

There is a bus at 1pm, and you should have plenty of time for that. It is an Amarillo bus, and you need to buy the tickets from the amarillo kiosk in the bus station itself. Just smile and say 'dos para Olvera por favor'. That will cost about 10 ish euros.

The buses are at 1pm, 4pm, and 6.30pm, the 6.30pm one is a Casado bus, not an Amarillo bus. That is weekdays, no buses on a Saturday,

10 am and 6pm on a sunday. These times are correct as of last month, and should not change for until the winter 2016 season starts.

A taxi from teh airport to Olvera would cost about 75 euros, sometimes worth it for the stress reduction
